2-2 draw with the Saudis this morning
The Suba-roos (Australian Men's Team)
Aussie v Japan tonight at 10pm. should be a stream here on the AFC's youtube account https://www.youtube.com/user/AFCCHAMPIONSLEAGUE
Japan look totally in control when on the ball.
1-0 Japan
How does Tomi Juric get into this team?
He plays like a lobotomised version of Shane Smeltz.
I've seen septuagenarian cuckolds with more game than this Australian team.
Terrible.
Jedinak gets the pen
Could argue shoulder-to-shoulder, but a stupid challenge, going away from goal.
Juric off, Timmy on.
Ended 1-1
Australia now second place in Group B after Saudi Arabia. However next month there'll be one matchday and in that matchday Japan will play Saudi Arabia whereas Australia will play Thailand away. A favourable matchup for the Footballroos.
Australia fails to make it out of the group stages at the AFC u19's, so miss out on qualification to u20s world cup.
The Australian men's age group teams have under-performed in recent years.
What's the opposite of a golden generation?
Wooden?

"rest Cahill" as in make sure he is available for City vs WSW

Aussie drew 2-2 against Thailand this morning whilst Japan beat Saudi Arabia, dropping Aussie down to 3rd in their group.
Australia just might find themselves playing off in 3rd place, Something they haven't done since leaving Oceania but something there use to.

They have 3 of the 5 games at home so I would be surprised if they had to go to a play off. It would be hard to play as poorly again as they did against Thailand last week.
They seem to be struggling for goals atm, most of their attacking players are fringe players at their clubs currently. A lack of quality strikers seem to be an issue coming thru their age groups, Juric & Maclaren are the only two of note.

Argentina to play Brazil in Melbourne, with one of them likely to stay behind and play Australia?

James Jeggo injured and replaced by Nathan Burns in Socceroos squad

If they don't beat Iraq tonight there pretty much cemented 3rd place for them self and the play-offs.
Ange pulling a 3-2-4-1 formation out of his arse for the match. Wtf.
1-1 draw. the formation backfired in the 2nd half. Australia has 3rd place wrapped up and heading for the playoffs.
drew 1-1 with iran in tehran.

Iraq.
I knew I had read that wrong. My sincere apologies to all iraq fans
Aussie's remaining games
vs UAE
vs Saudi Arabia
@ Japan
vs Thailand
Australia win 2-0 but both Japan & Saudi Arabia won also. That leaves Aussie comfortably in the play off spot but 3 points behind Japan & Saudi Arabia. That Saudi game in the next window is looming rather large.
Australia must win its last 3 games, Anything is possible but I still believe there heading down the playoff path.
Speaking at a dinner event on Wednesday night at the AFI Institute, Postecoglou stated he will be stepping down after the 2018 World Cup in order to pursue coaching options in Europe.
Imagine if they didn't qualify. That would be an awkward quote.
