Oh yes! This is amazing.
I just love the self belief that keeps growing within the team. After the game Smeltz was pretty much saying "bring on Paraguay". Love it!!!
We win, and we're into the 2nd round. Unbelievable!

Fallon will be a bit pissed with that game. He had no way of countering the Italians crying about him using his arms.

Perhaps with a better midfield he will come into his own more.

Bertos = offers almost zero.

Leo was a lot better tonight. Used his pace for once which I haven't seem him do for a long long time.

+1. Thought he had a decent game.

Check the screen grab.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Check out this stunningly written piece from the Telegraph.

All over the glistening, ultra-modern Mbombela Stadium, patches of white whirled,New Zealand shirts stripped from chests and held aloft in defiance and delight. The team that came as cannon fodder had just detonated Italys World Cup hopes.

Yes, White Noise made themselves heard, even over the dreaded vuvuzelas. I loved their huge roar when the ref actually gave a free kick Fallon's way.

I'm sure the lads could hear the support they were getting and it helped inject a little bit more energy into their tired legs.

I agree 100%. Despite what we've all been saying about ourselves "Do NOT underestimate us", Italy clearly didnt take that advice. They had no game plan thinking they could just walk away with a win. They probably took a drama class or two before hand, thats about it.

I actually think you are running the AW's down by thinking this. I think the Italians had done their homework as the amount of Yellow cards the AW's got goes to prove. They knew we would try and get the ball to our big guys, and the constant grappling and then falling over clutching chests/faces etc during challenges to get the free kick, get the ref to reach in his pocket goes to show, get the AW's frustrated so they'd make mistakes.

They had a lot of attempts and balls in, it's not like they were not trying like England the other day. They simply could not break down the stunning defense and when they did Paston was there with the save.

They threw everything at the AW's. The AW's were equal to it. The AW's kept them out on the wings and the fullbacks were equal to it. Italy looked dangerous only when they made space in the middle. Lippi is no fool, I don't think he took NZ lightly at all.

The AW's ran them pretty close in that friendly remember?

For someone being forced to play a role that is alien to him Leo is going a fine job. He and Lochy did a ton of unheralded work on the wings tonight.

I love this bit from the guardian live commentary:
90+3 min New Zealand make their final substitution: Andy Barron, who works in a bank in Wellington and had to arrange time off to come here, replaces Chris Killen

no doubt the aussies will be claiming its their bank...

was not impressed with the ref from guatamala. The penalty he gave Italy was as soft as the dive. But still happy to draw with the defending world champions. There media and country will not be happy. Dum as hollywood performers.

To think they had to cheat their way to a draw with New Zealand. I am so stoked right about now.

I wish I could read Italian, the knives will be well and truly out in their media.

I refuse to acknowledge 'falling over and crying like a f**king pussy' a valid game plan. Its taking the lazy way around things. The only thing more ridiculous is the fact that the referee couldnt see through it. I wouldnt get away with this sort of sh*t in Capital 1...

Italy gave it all they had and still could not pierce the kiwi defence and or there shots were off target. Well dont Kiwis!! Ranked 78th.
