In your honour Term.

9-1-1 is a Joke - Public Enemy

A defensive formation played at many points by John Adshead and Paul Nevin (yes, I know, I'm including the keeper in the 9 defenders).

How's my driving? - Whine here

That is actually pretty f**king funny! Nice one.

I have been trying to get my old crew in here from the start but it wasn't really happening. Respect.

What every footballer should have at the end of the game,"dirty boots" by Sonic Youth off the album of the same name. "Quest for the cup" also by Sonic Youth off the album experimental jet set, trash and no star. "Roll up for the donkey derby..." by Attila the stockbroker. This song chronicles the fortunes of Attilas least favourite team Crystal Palace, as they attempted to win the F.A. cup. I believe he supports Brighton.

Sunday Kickaround - Graeme Downes

The former Verlaines misery guts at his best.  Lyrics about just getting together with your mates for a couple of hours on a Sunday evening to forget life's troubles.

Well I bet they don't sound like Kings of Leon either - but then no one is coming close to them at the moment.

The best ever chant was by Celtic fans on learning that Rangers goal keeper Andy Goram was schizophrenic.

They couldn't help themselves but sing, "Two Any Gorams, there's only two Andy Gorams."

Cruel but very funny.

If Tasmania ever gets a A-League team we will all love to say this song to them. It was originally sung to chester in england.

Your mother is your sister
Your father is your brother
You love to shag each other
The tassie family

It sounds allright if you put it in the tune of the adams family.

You must be joking. Seriously, what is the big deal about Kings of Leon? At best they are an average Lynyrd Skynyrd covers band, at worst they sound like the f**king Eagles.

Basically they are a media fabrication of the next "hot" thing being marketed to middle-aged men who don't actually go to gigs anymore (because it's a bit loud and I have to go to work tomorrow) and therefore rely on other middle aged men writing reviews in the Dom Post to tell them what to buy in order to feel connected to whatever distant memory of having a life they still cling on to.

I am being too harsh? Not really. This thread has touched such glorious heights as Flesh D-Vice, The Fall and The Skatalites and now it's been tainted by the Kings of Lynyrd whoops I mean Leon.

There's too much hard work gone in to this to let our standards drop now...

Yes I hear they aren't popular in the US - but then the US don't really understand music.

I've seen Flesh D-Vice live - they were awful in the nicest possiblle way. Certainly not close to Toy Love. I didn't need to be told the Kings of Leon were good, I heard the albums as they came out. I rarely listen to radio and first heard the latest album some months before the Dom reviewed it.

Kings of Lynyrd fans are obviously as prickly as their heroes' carefully manicured beards.

Zephyr, I'm not really bothered about when you first heard them (although I first heard them back in the early 90's when they still called themselves Hootie and the Blowfish). You are not addressing my main point that they suck hard and could only possibly appeal to teenage girls and middle-aged men.

Hey Terminator X - You'll get no joy with this one, he's vapid!

I must admit though as a middle-aged man - I quite like Kings of Leon.

Number 1 in the UK charts and New Zealand charts - must be doing a roaring trade if young men and old women don't like them. I can see why an old women like yourself might not be into them.

Yeah, but even the Spice Girls managed that feat. They're another band that mainly appeals to teenage girls and middle-aged men.

Face it, Kings of Lynyrd are bland, safe, like a comfy pair of slippers and a night in front of the Living Channel with a cup of tea.

So what do you recommend as the albums to be listening to right now then?

What about a blast from the past, Donovan's, Mellow Yellow. We could change it to ''They call us Yellow Fever". Its a easy song to sing, with plenty of scope. Knowing the quality and ingenuity of our members could make it our own.

None of that redneck crap that's for sure.

Songs we might want to keep in reserve in the unlikely event of a heavy loss - Old Yellow Bricks (Arctic Monkeys).

Although the song title Fluorescent Adolescent has merit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5jR8acehW4

Rap music!!! - well Madvilliany gets a good review and a 93 score on metacritic.

I might give Madvilliany a spin when I get the chance.

But first Arctic Monkeys new one today!!

Well I has a listen to Madvillian - it's a guy talking with incidental background music. It is debatable whether Rap music counts for music at all, but I accept that there are people in America who seem to like it.

Certainly it is so different from Kings of Leon as not to be really comparible.

I'll stay with the Kings though.

Rap music!!! You say that like it was a surprise? I'm not sure you're quite the music fan you profess to be.

You do realise that both the Kings of Leon and the Arctic Monkeys are made-up bands, the same as The Monkees? Both were put together by record company executives after a Spice Girls style audition process and use carefully scripted, but fictional, background stories. Neither write their own songs although at least they can play their own instruments.

In both cases cynical record company execs left clues basically mocking the fans for being so easily duped. In the case of the Arctic Monkeys the use of the blatant Monkeys/Monkees reference. In the case of the Kings of Leon the brothers fictional surname Followill is simply the inversion of Will Follow, which is what the execs expected the media and fans would do as long as they were being given something "cool" and "edgy" enough as the next big thing.

Sorry to break the news but as an act once close to my heart used to say "Don't believe the hype".

News is just coming through that the Kings Of Leon flew into the Twin Towers as part of a conspiracy to cover up JFK's assasination. I think you're the one being duped though, but then that is probably the result of listening to too much Rap music. I don't care if they're four spacemen from Mars - I judge music with my own ears and the Kings of Leon are a great band. Don't believe your hype.

I think there is a lot of merit in rap music, though I must say it is not my favourite style of music.

Not sure if this has been said or not but I reckon "Club Foot" by Kasabian is definitely an option.

"Club Foot" by Kasabian is a great tune.

I don't know what it was about the letter K but there where some great tunes coming from great bands a couple of years ago - Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Kings Of Leon, Kasabian.

Hopefully we won't need to chant the chorus though

OK, I understand how you white boys love your standard guitar-bass-drums template but your celebration of the letter K is disturbing. KKK right? I get the message.

I thought your dismissal of the entire genre of rap was a little flippant but I'm starting to see that it's based in a far deeper ignorance than that.

And speaking of ignorance - Keane? Gimme a break, that's the greatest crime of all.
