Could be a long off-season. At least he should be fresh for October.

I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

As well as Lambert there is also Grant Holt who came to that level late and numerous players like Carlton Cole and Jay Boothroyd who are considered premier league players (on premier league wages).

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite

i am sure that they do and I am sure that they all agree that wood is not currently a premier league quality player. But what is happening here is some grown-ups are speculating as to whether Wood might develop into a premier league quality player (in the same way that Lambert or Holt have) or if at his age he will not develop a great deal more.  That is something that no scout knows (although I am sure that there opinions will all differ as well).

As much as I wanted Leicester to go up, I think a full season in the championship with the one club is going to be more beneficial for Wood at this time in his career.

Auckland will rise once more

Yeah, well clearly none of us has a crystal ball, so who the fuck knows what will happen.
But I guess my thinking is that for every Lambert or Holt or Stewart there's a 100 guys in that kind of position who never get the chance or simply fail at that level, so I'm going with the odds on this one.

Leicester aren't quite dead yet. If they can win away at Nott forest on last day (who are 2 points and one point above leicester) and Bolton doesn't win (home v blackpool) they will sneak into playoffs on their excellent goal diff. They could also in theory catch crystal palace ( currently 5th and 3 points ahead the foxes) but palace would have to lose their last 2 games ( away to millwall and home to Peterborough) - unlikely but not impossible given Peterborough decent late run and desperate position.

I don't think there is any doubt that wood could play in the EPL; but I can only picture him at the 'eternal wigan' level teams hovering forever in the last five.

Didi I read somewhere that the latest rumour has Martin O'Neill in line to take over if Leicester fail to go up? Vagaries of professional football etc is owners/new manager will reassess after next week's results.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

As it stands at HT, Leicester City is in the play offs.

If Bolton can beat Blackpool, they will steal 7th off them. It was looking much easier before those 2 late goals for Bolton.

Watford lost 2 keepers in their game yesterday.  One in the warm up and another to a neck injury in the game. They may have to play the kid that conceded this

Wow, I dreamt about it, didn't think it'd come true. Can't wait to watch the play-offs.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
