Another day, another goal for Chris Wood!
It's currently half-time in Leeds' home match vs Ipswich. I'll try and find a video of the goal if I can. Leeds leading 1–0.

He's picked us up the win. Got to be converting the white faithful now.
Goal
Almost made it two with this
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy:
"I thought Chris Wood was outstanding, the focal point and the big difference in the team. When they hit it up there they stuck up there and he ran in the channels.
"He showed why he had good money (spent on him) and why he's a good player. Leeds have a very good player. He played well.
Seems to be on a roll, the timing of the NZ games is good for us, although, for his club probably come at a bad time as he really is a form player.
Wood 1 Smith -1 (not in squad!)
very happy for Woodsy. at this early stage Leeds are now mid table and one of the form sides. They also seem to be playing better football through the thirds and using their wing backs better for crosses. Woodsy now scoring more from 6 yard box than having to conjure up stuff from 39 yards. Just hope we have enough fit players to play along side him in the AWs!
Wonder how many goals he would need a season to strike up some EPL interest ? I think he could hold his own at EPL level nothing flash but maybe a 10 goal season regularly and maybe a goal or assist every other game or there abouts
He hasn't really been a consistent Championship player. He has done quite well but has been bumped around a bit.

Nah.
Wood scores goals, but is limited in basically every other regard. That kind of striker doesn't often survive in the EPL.
Shark, even bloody Middlesbrough have Llorente, who is far better than Wood.

I think the bumping around has mainly been due to his loan spells whilst at WBA. He has always scored consistently in the championship with the exception of one loan spell at Ipswich
I hope this is a chance for him to improve and really develop his all round game with a young ambitious coach who has just come from PL. He's always seemed to score goals in the Championship. There's no doubt he's got quality.
If you can be consistent that's something that would make clubs look at you.
His best chance is to help Leeds get promotion and then hope it's third time lucky.
The shot of his that hit the post in today's game shows his potential. For a big guy his close control is not bad and he has power in his shot... also for a guy maligned for his lack of aeriel ability he scores a fair amount of headers!
Today's goal showed his positional awareness, made a nice short pass, turned away and made a run to near post pulling his defender with him before backing off to get space... at no point was he static in his movement, this is a great quality in a "big man"
fudgeing hell. I'll call it now, as much as it might haunt me, but Leeds won't get promoted. far better teams in championship than them.
Not this year, but they have the name and history to attract a billionaire that has made a fortune exploiting one of the many mineral rich developing countries, and therefore has the money to throw at the club in order to bring it up to the premier league.
And it just so happens to be for sale.

Especially one who has English as a second language and thinks it is Leads United.

Lets not forget there is 1 pen amongst those 5 goals - plus I think a scruffed shot and a tap in. Still great to see the big man in form, and as someone else pointed out from the weekend his most impressive moment was actually the rocket shot from outside the box, that cannoned back off the post.
Funny game football.
Full games as Leeds beat Barnsley 2-1
As long as defenders hold off him he looks good. When they try and go ball he lacks some close quarter ball control in the box - which showed up a couple of times in the Islands.
Still - the AWs looked lost without him in that final. No more weddings Woodsy that's a plea.
Leeds lose 1–0 away to Derby. Wood played 82 minutes before being substituted to make way for Antonsson.
Wood scored this morning but Leeds conceded a late goal to Wigan.
Not a bad goal either

what is that defender doing?
well taken!
Very calm, alot of players would have tried to bury it first time.
Good goal, that. That is kinda his forte - bringing it down on his chest like that. Sometimes he does it when he should try and head it in though.
Leeds beat Wolves 1 nil. (own goal from Salvio)
Wood's involvement:
Just before the hour mark Leeds were denied another penalty. Eunan O’Kane charged up the field and fed Chris Wood, who went down in the Wolves box, but once more Leeds were denied a penalty.
Wood then nearly broke the deadlock, Sacko broke up field before feeding the striker, but he was denied by Carl Ikeme.
Wood had a great chance to seal the points for Leeds with three minutes remaining, Roofe teed him up beautifully, but he could only fire over from close range.
Wood scores against Norwich from the bench. It's about to go to penalties.

Wood makes his penalty.
Leeds are through to the next round.
League Cup?

Good work from Wood, glad he scored and converted his penalty, that's awesome.

We (Leeds) are on the up right now and Chris is a major part of it. Hopefully his form hangs around for the South American playoffs.
Good to see that both Wood and Reid actually played better after being the All Whites. Usually after they're with us their form turns to kak.
Tasty! Elland Rd cap these days 39,460. Expect they'll fill it.
