I find it really odd that people can't understand a player wanting to play at a higher level (regardless if they are at that level or not). Gotta take the opportunity when they arise because you might not get it again.

Here is Wood at his brilliant best

Yeah no, a training ground video staged for TV is definitely a better indicator of finishing ability than a 30 goal season...

I'm a Leeds fan but i've never liked Chris Wood, i think he is a tremendously over rated oaf and he couldn't finish his tea. the fact that burnley were stupid enough to pay 15 million pounds is the best thing to happen to Leeds for a while. Imagine if Pot Pot was a Phoenix fan over the last couple of seasons with all the decent players being released mid contract for personal reasons. He'd have an aneurysm.

Woods has had more than one decent season, he has played 205 games in the Championship and scored 77 goals. When he was at Leicester at same time as Vardy, he did better than him in Vardy first season, 9 goals in 20 appearances to Vardy 4 goals in 26 appearances. They then changed place the next season (Woods 4 goals in 26 and Vardy 16 goals in 37) which was the difference in Vardy staying with Leicester and going to the Premiership and Woods ending up at Leeds, so like anything in Football sometimes its just timing and some luck. So why not when he had a season like last year, with 30 goals in 48 games, move to a premiership team when the only difference here between the two was Leeds didn't win to move up.

That's 3 posts slagging Wood off and 1 slagging me off. Quite the charmer.

But I guess I should be honoured, to be in the company of Chris Wood for those you've created an entire account to slag off.

Clearly those at Burnley know as little about football as I do, same with those at Leeds who paid a few million for him to play for them (during which he scored 30 goals in a season).

None of us know anything about football. But you do, armed with your video clip staged for TV.

Only because it's the only thing in football you seem to think is any good. Yes they have done a great job at creating a fantastic community club. Just don't understand why you have so much hate for one of NZ's best footballers. Liking 1 thing doesn't mean you have to slag everything else off

I support Arsenal as well. I don't hate him, i just don't rate him. I've already stated before if he does well then good on him. I have even offered up money as a bet if he does better than i expect, money i would happily donate to a person or charity. Just cannot see it happening having seen him play many times in his career (i watched him a lot at Leeds before people ask).

People seem to be really sensitive about having a go at Kiwi footballers unless their name is Moses Dyer.

He's already achieved a lot for a 25yo, and unlike most Kiwi players who go the UK, he's gone from apprentice to actually making it as a pro. So given that by virtue of an outstanding season at Leeds he earned himself a PL gig, I would have thought most NZ football fans reaction would be "good on him, hope he does really well", not "meh, he's a bit average, bet he'll be a failure".

As I pointed out earlier, both the Nix and United have a small but very outspoken minority of naysayers/baggers.   I wish he'd stayed but he might as well make hay while the sun shines.  More importantly, he seems to be becoming the AWs permanent captain given Reid's genuine and not so genuine sickies.

Haha mate I've been waiting for this since we signed him. As I said before I've never rated him I just find it funny how defensive kiwis get over a bang average footballer so I'm just winding everyone up ? I'm absolutely made up that he's gone and we got 15 million for him. And we're looking class this year so far so we don't really need a straight up replacement as of yet, we've got Roofe banging the goals in now

I think it's because he's not average to us. He is the all white that is playing at the highest level, Winston Reid aside. And we want to see him do well. But he is doing well, and he has deserved another shot in the premier league.

I'm really not sure how you can say he was average for you after a 30 goal season.

I watched and listened to every single game last year and I'm. It saying he didn't do well last year, no one can take that from him. What I'm saying is that I am so glad that we cashed in on him because I really can't see him repeating it, he missed two absolute sitters in his three games for Leeds this season which to me looked like the same Chris wood that players when we first signed him.

So you're putting a huge amount of weight on two misses, while completely disregarding the 30 he scored?

Fair enough being glad you cashed in, you got a lot of money for him and he's probably at his best/most valuable right now. Hopefully that money has gone back into the squad?

If you're so happy that he's gone why go to the effort of registering to a website simply to slag him off? Your actions don't really support what you're now saying.

Think Burnley will stay up easily enough, but that goal could give them the point that keeps them up. £15m repaid right there. Anything else is now positive territory. Well done Woody!

Was a great through ball and a tidy finish from Wood. Definitely wasn’t a poachers goal that people have previously accused him of only type of goals he is been able to score.

Burnley will disagree with you on that one. I think he's good enough to be a decent striker for a lower end premier league club.

Premier League clubs buy players who are not good enough for the top flight regularly.

He will get on the end of a few balls in and score a few, but ultimately don't think he is cut out technically for that level.

Also worth noting he is the same striker as Vokes, so offers nothing different to him up top, and is probably a lesser striker.

True, you would know more than Burnley about his skills. They just spent a record fee on a player who isn't good enough for the league they play on. Silly them.

We'll see in 6 months time. Fancy a wager on how many he'll score then pal? You sound confident.

Burnley had 20 shots on goal v WBA and missed with all of them. This has not gone unnoticed. Wood will get game time next week v Spurs for sure.
