I think the goal came moments after Gibbs-White had been moved into the ten. I don’t think their shape with Origi wide is that good, though apparently he’s an expensive squad member.
And perhaps Hudson-Odoi is just missing a bit of footy intelligence. Flicking over and watching Brennan Johnson, Werner, Son… these are guys that are so smart in their link play. They stuck a double marking on Hudson-Odoi so he just ran down the wing, found 3-4 players between him and goal, danced a bit on the ball and turned back. Time and again.
He wasn’t really looking for Wood’s run. Mainly wants to cut onto his right and shoot or cross imo.
Oh well, we’ll see. Two draws. Surely the fans will be getting nervous.
Don’t think Wood had a vintage game. Perhaps his touch was a bit off or he had international break rustiness, but still took his chance well.
