It sucked at the time, but you'd have to agree the Billionaire Greek's decision not to let Wood go to the Olympics was the right one. A rest then a full pre season at Forest.

 shows the results if you have a manager who can get the best out of a player, new castle didn;t bother trying, forest has and been rewarded with a river of goals. same with Italiano and Barber

I think Howe at Newcastle was a fan of Wood. He went out & signed him from Burnely after all. Plus he regularly sang his praises even when he wasn't scoring for the Magpies. But from memory Wood got poor service from his team mates there. The likes of Joelinton were pretty selfish. 

And then when the Swedish wunderkid Isak was signed, the writing was on the wall for the big Kiwi. The fans at St James Park with all that Saudi cash, expected bigger names on their team sheet than Waikato's finest.

How sweet it must have been for Wood, his brilliant hat trick there last season.
