Looks like he could do with a loan to gain match fitness/experience
Clayton Lewis (Macarthur FC | Australia)
Not in matchday squad for 2-3 loss away to Southend.
Unused sub v Bristol Rovers. First match squad appearance for awhile
Unused sub in 0-2 home loss to Oldham.
Doesn't exactly seem to be going great for him so far
Who knows from this far away.
Loss at home to Oldham (lowly 18th) was a bad result for Scodhorpe in battle for promotion playoffs.
They sit 5th (57 pts) but have played 3 games more than Charlton who sit 7th (51 pts).
Scun-thorpe draw 1-1 at Oxford. Lewis not in match day squad.
Played against Canada for AWs so presume not injured.
Maybe if Scun-thorpe get promoted to The Championship he will get loaned out to a lower league club.
He's still young, patience required.
sacked manager during the week as well wonder what impact that will have on Lewis.
Think he'll be shown the door at the end of his contract.
it's a 3 year contract

And now both Scun-thorpe and Charlton have sacked their managers after poor recent results, despite both clubs being still in contention for a play-off place. Such a precarious life being a manager in England...
An Aussie consortium are in talks to buy the Addicks whose owner wants to sell, and have plans to use the club as a pathway into English football for Aussie players.
Could sign the odd Kiwi too?
it's a 3 year contract
Maybe but it doesn't mean much as we've seen at the Nix
On the bench verus MK Dons
Irons win 2-0. Lewis not required.
Surely they would be fine with at least sending him out on loan, in which case I'd like to finally see him don a nix shirt. No guarantees he would start of course with Singh, but would still love to see what he can do at a league level
Huge game for Scodhorpe (6th place and 70 points and GD +13 and 44 games) as they host Plymouth Argyle (7th place and 68 points and GD +4 and 44 games).
The 6th place team grabs last promotion playoff spot.
Plymouth win, and they go a point ahead, with last regular season games this weekend
Scodhorpe win and guaranteed the last playoff spot.
Draw and will keep their two point gap, with a game to go.
Charlton (5th place and 71 points and 45 games), could yet lose out on playoffs to Scodhorpe & Plymouth.
Lewis not selected in match day squad.
Scun-thorpe clinch a place in the promotion play-offs with a 2-0 win over Plymouth.
I imagine for Lewis's longer term playing prospects, probably better they miss out on promotion.

Was at the game as a huge Argyle fan. Well gutted. We can still make the playoffs but need a Newcastle vs Central Coast score to do it now.
Lewis back on the bench, as Scun-thorpe host Bradford in their last regular season game. Hopefully he gets some minutes.
Scun-thorpe already in the promotion playoffs, and Bradford will finish mid table - but game still has a bit riding on it.
At the moment Irons (73pts) will play Rotherham (76 pts) in playoff semis.
Shrewsbury Town (87 pts) look possibly strongest of the 4th playoff sides, and currently would play Charlton (71 pts) in the other semi.
However if Irons lose, and Charlton beat relegation threatened Rochdale today - Scun-thorpe would need play Shrewsbury in their semi.
Lewis subbed on at 72 min mark. His first minutes in a long time. Subbed on at 1-1 and score finishes that way.
Sounds like the Iron rested a few players before the playoffs, so maybe Lewis's only minutes before the season finishes.
Scun-thorpe to play Rotherham in promotion semi playoffs, starting next Saturday May 12th.
Bit of drama at bottom of the table. Rochdale beat Charlton (who now play Shrewsbury in the other promotion semi playoffs), to stay up. Oldham being relegated on the last day.

No doubt due to the attendance of "Spanish Dale", Jesus Sanchez.
Lewis not in match day squad as Scun-Thorpe draw first playoff leg verus Rotherham 2-2.
lost 2-0 this morning so no promotion for Scodhorpe. Probably good for Clayton though, if he can get a good pre season under his belt then he can hopefully get some more game time next season.
Two starts for Lewis in Scunnys pre season in Austria
Another pre season start for Clayton this morning as Scunny take on Notts Forest

Got 87' in a 0-1 loss.
Can't even make the bench as Scodhorpe kick off their League One season away to Coventry City today.
Scodhorpe made a couple of signings on Friday, which slide themselves onto the bench, most notably for Clayton - the arrival of 27 year old Matthew Lund; Northern Ireland international and an experienced midfield player. He was also in the starting XI when Northern Ireland beat the AW's 1-0 last year, prior to our Confederations Cup campaign.
still hasn’t featured in a match day squad this season. Scunny went down 3-0 away to Sunderland this morning
Loan option for the NIX?
Not sure if he is what we need, but would add depth.

Also what's the point in going all the way there only to be loaned back to NZ?
Might as well drop down a division or so to see if he can get some game time.

This should have happened last year. Would not surprise me at all if he was jettisoned in January or released at the end of his contract early.

I seem to half remember there being some ancestry called upon
Sun-Thorpe hammered at home 5-0 by Fleetwood Town. No Lewis in match day squad, but if doesn’t come into squad soon way Iron are performing then he seems definitely on the outer.
Scun-thorpe beat Wolves U21s on pens (0-0 normal time) to win EFL Trophy game.
Lewis an unused sub on the bench. If can’t get any minutes in a meaningless EFL game, would seem to be on the outer somewhat.

Maybe the Nix should approach him/the club for a loan/trial as he's clearly done there.
Never understand the logic in comments like that "not enough experiance". Maybe a move to Salford could be an option, old Scodhorpe boss is now manager there.
Would a move to the mix be such a bad thing for him?
It's a travesty this guy is not playing regular football, anywhere. Such a big talent, rate him hugely.
"New Zealand's best young player" is a little bit factually inaccurate and misleading. Young Player of the Year doesn't necessarily make you the best young player but never mind. I agree a loan to the Nix would probably signal the end of his time in the UK (at least for now). If he has ambitions to stay in the UK at any level he'd probably be best trying to sort a loan move to another League One or League Two team. Not sure if the EFL loan window is closed now anyway?
