Came on at HT with Horsens down 1-0. Gets the equaliser, but unfortunately Vendsyssel grab a 2nd to get up 2-1.

Full game for Just in a 1-3 loss. His Ugandan team mate sent off at 81 mins (1-2). Not looking like Horsens will return to the Superliga this season. Already 16 points off the top 2 teams, SønderjyskE & AaB.

I’m a big fan of Just, but things don’t really seem to be working out for him in the danish second tier. He probably won’t want to give up on the European dream, but if another club doesn’t rescue him I think he’d be a good option for the new Auckland franchise. No doubt he can hack it at A-League level.

Carlin with the great work once again.

Also picked up an assist for his side's 3rd goal, before being subbed off after 82'.

87 mins in a 2-1 win. Horsens up to 6th.

Helsingor look like they will be battling to avoid the drop this season, after looking strong promotion candidates to the Superliga a few seasons back with Liam Jordan, Just & McCowatt.

From Flying Kiwis. Got distracted taking Steve Corica phone calls?

....it has been reported in Denmark that Just left the squad during their winter break training camp in Spain and then spent time apparently training by himself rather than with the group. He wasn’t in their squad for the 2-1 loss to Kolding that marked their first competitive game of the year... however his agent says there’s nothing to worry about and that he’s back with the club again, having dealt with some personal circumstances.

The Agent, Gustaf Grauers to Tipsbladet: “He's back in full training with the team now. It is true that there have been some personal reasons why he has been gone, but it is not something he wants to be dug into. But now he is back and running full, which is the most important thing.”

Rightio. Apparently Just was also contacted and offered no comment. If he doesn’t want it pried into then we’ll respect that, and with a little luck he’ll be back on the pitch at the next opportunity... because Horsens do kinda need him, having now only won two of their past eight Division 1 games.

Could be as simple as he went through a horrible break up... who knows.

But yes.. he would be a great pickup for Auckland!

He's not coming back to New Zealand...

He was the target of a failed transfer between AC Horsens and Allsvenskan club IFK Göteborg. The main reason given (or so we're led to believe) was that the Danish transfer window had closed and Horsens were not able to bring in a replacement.

So rather than anything else, perhaps he's just a little bit pissed off. It might also go some way towards explaining absences from the squad and training separately.

https://fotbolldirekt.se/2024/03/05/avslojar-blavitt-har-lagt-bud-vill-kopa-loss-yttermittfaltare-fran-nya-zeeland

He's now got himself a Swedish based agent too (Just scroll down the page a bit and you'll see him) ⬇️
https://www.taldea.se/

Anyway, that concludes my spiel about why Elijah Just won't be signing back in this country any time soon. To my way of thinking, that's a bloody good thing too.

Interesting, and yeah he likely is a bit pissed off. Sucks a bit for Just, especially considering Horsens (8th) are almost no chance of being promoted this season (20 pts off the promotion spots). They likely won't even make the Top 6 cutoff in 2 more rounds, being 6 points behind Hobro in 6th. But if they are to be in the Bottom 6, they are still 12 points at the moment above the relegation spots, so likely a few months of club football for Just with little to play for.

IFK Göteborg
are a big club in Sweden - won the league 18 times. But last Allsvenskan season they were a lowly 13th, just above the relegation playoff spot. So likely they are rebuilding their squad for the new season.

Below from Niche Cache. He may have to wait a few months to get that move to Sweden. But basically Horsens have very little to play for now, in the Bottom 6 (so no chance of promotion), however well clear of the relegation spots. So they might let Just go early, even though they can't sign a replacement.

.......... it’s since been reported that Just was the subject of a transfer bid from Swedish top division club IFK Göteborg, who are currently being coached by Jens Berthel Askou who used to be in charge at AC Horsens where he signed Elijah Just in the first place. That bid was rejected, as the transfer market is currently closed in Denmark (whereas the Swedish season operates on a different calendar so they’re still in offseason mode), hence ACH would be unable to buy a replacement.

According to Fotboll Direkt the saga is not yet over and IFK could come back with an improved offer to try and pry away a bloke whose contract runs until June 2026, and who has been in pretty sharp form for Horsens this term. Breaking through as an important attacking player after being in and out in the top tier following his transfer. We don’t know if Just’s absence from Horsens was related to this transfer situation but it seems like a bit of a coincidence if it wasn’t.

Horsens (9th) travel to HB Koge (10th). Start of the Relegation Round, but Horsens should be fine being 11 pts above the drop zone.

Just may not care much anyway he wants that move to Sweden.

https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2024/04/01/denmark/1st-division/hb-koge/ac-horsens/4341057/

Transfer window has closed in Sweden for now (March 28th). So this one is officially on ice.

Boy, you bet he's going to be disappointed to not have a move sanctioned for his services. Hopefully Göteborg have gone and parked their interest in Just for the interim, to perhaps be revisited in the next window.

All a bit rotten at Horsens?
They get thrashed 5-0. They are still 8 pts above the drop zone.
Just full game & a yellow.

Horsens (8th) host Helsingor (12th/last).

Helsingor on only 14 pts, are basically already relegated. So back to the Danish 3rd tier where it all began for Just, McCowatt & Wilkins. To think when the first 2 Kiwis were there a few seasons back they got close to promotion to the Superliga, only to infamously implode 2nd half of the season.

Just is at Horsens in the Danish 2nd tier.

Helsingor (where Just, McCowatt & Wilkins all started in Denmark), are going to drop down to the 3rd tier.

Strong rumours Just is close to a move to the Swedish top flight.

Is that still a rumour or are you referring to the attempt that was scuttled a few months back?

Still a rumour he's wanted in Sweden, though doesn't mean it will happen. It was only Horsens not having a replacement for Just lined up, that apparently scuttled the deal from happening in Feb/March.

Rides the pine in a 1-0 win at B93 this morning.

I've been chasing down news or rumours of this potential move to Sweden, but since the initial article I posted it's been radio silence. Not surprising given the transfer window is closed at the moment as well, but probably also good for Just too. It's never a good look to be sitting out training sessions or matchday's because of a scuppered move. Good to see he wasn't completely locked out though, so obviously calmer heads prevailed in that situation.

I have no doubt we'll see more movement on this once the season is over though. You do get the feeling he's getting itchy feet seeing McCowatt in the Superliga and potentially in line to win some silverware with Silkeborg, and now Wilkins with his SønderjyskE outfit that is a 99.99% certainty they'll be in the Superliga next season as well. Hopefully we see some movement on this sometime soon. 🤞
