Musa's two-year contract expires at the end of the current season, and although he is focussed on finishing the campaign with Rising, especially after the team fell short in the final 12 months ago, he has made no secret of his desire to return to the A-League in the future.
He started his professional career at Wellington Phoenix and feels like he has a point to prove to the club after playing only three games during the 2010-11 season before moving on.
Given the Phoenix's eagerness to sign New Zealand players again, there could be an opening for Musa who will be a free agent in January unless he signs elsewhere.
But he should have no shortage of options given he currently holds an English passport and a US green card, giving him domestic status in Europe and North America.
