Miley Clegg at Racing Louisville. Interesting to see Racing Louisville second women's team played in the USL comp this week. But Miley Clegg didn't feature. So she is obviously seen more as a first team player. Just wonder though where she is going to get game time leading into the Olympics in a few months after not playing for 5 or so months now.
Yeah but Louisville's trainings will be high quality, and she will be being pushed every day by top players. Plus the Ferns have 2 games against Japan in Spain coming up, and presumably some other pre Olympic friendlies.
And if she isn't playing for their 2nd team, then they must seriously be considering her for first team mins. They are struggling a bit in 11th (14 teams).
Yes but even the best training is never the same as game time. If she is not match fit then at best she will be a sub for the Ferns. That's what I expect we will see in the games against Japan. Still two months to the Olympics though, so who knows. And got to remember how young she still is. Her time will no doubt come.
Barry, Foster, Jale, Stott, Taylor & Wilkinson, are all now out of season, and have been for weeks if not months. All of them will now be out of season up to the Olympics. Just the gym, running and pre season club training.
Clegg is in season, and in a daily training environment a good few levels above the weak ALW. Everything Clegg does at training surrounded by top drawer internationals, will be quicker paced than an ALW game. Like Singh would have had to be on point at each Bayern senior team training, as much as any game with the Nix prior.
Lets see how Clegg looks for the Ferns against Japan.
The Ford Football Ferns squad to face FIFA rank no. 7 Japan in June has been locked in 🇳🇿🇯🇵
Head Coach Jitka Klimková has selected a 24-player squad to take on the 2023 FIFA WWC quarter-finalists across two matches in Murcia, Spain 🇪🇸
Bianna Edward in team of the week in NPL NSW. She has linked up with Illawara. image.png699.07 KB
Usual suspects Kelli Brown and Charlotte Lancaster with goals this week in wins for there teams. . Allyssa Wynham with a debut in NPL NSW but a losing effort.
Interesting that Sheaff was picked as the 3rd keeper, in yesterday's Ferns squad.
Edwards unavailable? She actually hasn't been involved with the Ferms since December last year in Colombia.
Leat & Esson are locked in for the Olympics, but there is still a 3rd GK travelling reserve spot up for grabs. Worse things in life than going to a Paris Olympics, even if have almost zero chance of actually playing.
Reading midfielder Mae Hunt (18 y/o) is eligible for New Zealand and is in the process of attaining her passport, according to her father. An academy graduate, she was promoted to the first-team squad in January this year and has made two Championship appearances so far. Another Kiwi in the pro English ranks - sick

At the U20 womens world cup Sheaff was the #1 keeper under Gemma Lewis. Edwards was on the bench. So Sheaff is obviously rated. Interesting though. Didn't Edwards pull out of the last Ferns squad.....Might be more going on here. Maybe Edwards is just sick of sitting on the bench. after this A leafgue season and is enjoying playing at NPL level. https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/match-centre/match/108/283933/283934/400237855

She'll be eligible for U20 world cup later this year then. maybe even the next one in 2026. Current team is stacked with good midfielders though. Still nothing wrong with building depth.
Is Fraser fit? She hadn't made the bench yet,but Utah are losing every game. Seems strange.
Also Clegg and other striker subs not used when Racing are losing. Peculiar.
Fraser only arrived about 2 weeks ago with a Spanish youth international. Had to wait on her work visa.
NWSL is a very big step up from the weak ALW. A few Aussie girls have apparently gone there and struggled to get meaningful mins. Fraser will need time to get up to speed even if her Utah team are struggling.
