Game over, 1-0 win. Fraser one of the best on the park, if not the best. Not much of an online Utah fan presence, but for what there is, I'm seeing praise! Didn't really put a foot wrong, and showcased some awesome creativity and technical ability

2nd NWSL game for Fraser, off the bench at 57 mins. bottom placed Utah losing 0-1 to Washington Spirit (3rd).

Miley Clegg an unused sub for Racing Louisville yesterday, in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash

Hah, typical Kiwi. Undersells herself completely. Looking happy though.

I'm guessing you meant to respond to another post ,with this link to a chat to Fraser from last week.

Nice move for Wisnewski that.
Liking these gutsy moves for young Kiwi female footballers. Hopefully plenty of playing time coming her way.

As the tweet states as well - First official signing for USL Super League signing for Lexington.

Good luck Grace. 👏

Shaun Gill said rumours this 2nd tier USA comp will have wages 3x greater than the wages in ALW. So pragmatic as much as gutsy moves, given we all know ALW wages are pitiful

Expect many more ALW players to head stateside

Future Division I status in the US. Guess that means it will run in competition to the NWSL? Although all the articles I've read about it have stated the expansion of pro football in the women's game in the country, rather than trying to slug it out to be the #1 league.

Seasons won't be aligned either as such - With a Fall season, followed by a winter break, and then a spring season for a 28 game campaign + playoffs.

I guess the Nix and ALW in general will lose a lot of players to this league. But at the end of the day if they are paying well and are establishing good pro environments then its got to be good for women's football here as well.

Probably means the ALW slips down the international club football pyramid a bit, like the ALM becoming even more so a younger development league. You get your 1st pro gig as an 18 yr old, juggle that with part time work and/or study, then if you are good enough leave after 2-4 seasons at age 20-22 for overseas. But ain't no bad thing if Wisnewski can be better paid, and now just solely concentrate on football, rather juggle some part time work or whatever. Focus on being the best player she can be.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USL_Super_League

The quality of ALW you suspect will drop, not only as the best young players like Wisnewski leave, but alot of the non NWSL American visa players will now sign for this 2nd tier US league rather than play in the ALW. Hailey Davidson has already done it. Likely Breslin, Speckmaier & Cox are getting offers. And then older ALW veterans will also be targets. Suspect Hannah Wilkinson has left Melb City due to signing over there.

Similar to how increased cash in the Saudi 2nd division made it more difficult to recruit quality visa players for the ALM, the quality of visa players in the ALW may drop off.

Is going to make it hard for Auckland FC to start assembling a competitive ALW squad in 12 months. They would have been targeting players like Wilkinson, just like the men's team are signing Tommy Smith etc.

At least the Nix have girls teams in their Academy, plus have signed most of the better domestic players (esp from Canterbury Pride) in their first 3 seasons.

It seems the difference between a struggling wage vs a comfortable wage. Easy decision to make really

Fraser subbed off at 74 mins (3-0) as Utah get thrashed 6-0 at top of the table Orlando Pride.

38 yr old Brazilian legend Marta with a double.

Two of Fraser's team mates got dragged at HT, so she must have done better than them.

Frustrating for Clegg, still yet to debut for Racing Louisville (8th in NWSL). They played this morning (1-1 draw), and Clegg not even on the bench this time. And not listed as injured either.

Maybe a loan deal down to one of the clubs in the new USL Super League comp, post the Olympics?? That comp kicks off in August, though it does seem like it's almost being set up to potentially rival the NWSL, so loan deals not really possible. But yeah now seems a long time since Clegg played any club football.

The substitutes bench includes defender Ellie Jean; midfielders Jordan Baggett, Kayla Fischer and Linda Motlhalo; winger Maddie Pokorny; and forwards Parker Goins, Uchenna Kanu and Reilyn Turner.

Goalkeepers Jordyn Bloomer and Olivia Sekany; defender Elli Pikkujämsä; midfielder Ary Borges; and forward Kirsten Wright were all previously listed as out through injury.

Miley Clegg's Racing Louisville lost 0-2 to Gotham FC yesterday. Clegg an unused sub and still awaiting her UWSL debut. Maybe the Louisville coaches didn't see her cracking goal against Japan for the Ferns.

The story in that game is Barbra Banda who reportedly has hyperandrogenism and was twice as fast as anyone else on the pitch - well, twice as fast as the Utah defence for sure.

Caster Semenya also has hyperandrogenism. She was pretty quick.
As always these situations are complex. FIFA for a time ruled Banda ineligible to play international football for Zambia, but that then got overturned and she played in the WWC last year.

From Niche Cache.
Also Macey Fraser came early off for Utah in her NSLW game with a hammy twinge.

Only Abby Erceg this week (for Racing Louisville), no Milly Clegg. MC dropped out of both matchday squads for Louisville after a few injury recoveries knocked her deeper in the queue. That sorta explains why she couldn’t scrap a debut from five previous bench selections... not that there’s anything to panic about there. You don’t just walk into an NWSL team as a teenager.

There are only ten players Clegg’s age or younger who’ve featured so far this season (in NWSL) and none for Louisville – whose youngest player is Reilyn Turner who is three years older than Clegg. Keep in mind that Clegg was given a three-year contract. If the first year is just for development then that’s still going to advance her career nicely.
