A clever club would sign the likes of Bell, Just, Garbett, Cacace, etc to two-year contracts, knowing they would play in the World Cup - gambling that they will do at least OK enough for scouts from other clubs to think 'hmmm, that players worth a punt', and then sell them for a handsome profit.
