Full game in a 2-0 win at OKC Energy (15th).

RGV remain well out of the playoff hunt, being 14th in Western Conference USL.

USL season over for RGV with a 2-1 win over Cameron Knowles Timbers II.

RGV finished 12th in Western Conference USL, 8 points off the playoffs.

Full game for Adams. Finished season with 26 starts from 34 games. 1 goal.

He must be some chance of an AWs squad callup in November, with Wynne and Reid likely both out.

He's 23 on 20th November so I presume too old for the Olympics?

Adams signs for the Houston Dynamo

Awesome news for the lad, he's been knocking on the door for a while, especially last season with his callup to the Dynamo to help cover injuries/suspensions. Go well son!

Seems that Kiwi's with green cards are suddenly the in thing at the moment too.

good stuff

I think that's seven kiwis now with MLS clubs?

Interesting we seem to now have four centre half defenders along with a left back and right back.

The only midfielder is Musa, who many here would consider centre half as his best position

Officially 6. All in the Western Conference, as seems the way with Kiwis over there.

Billingsley (though effectively still on trial), Boxall, Musa, Tuiloma, Adams & Wynne.

Tommy Smith released by Rapids. Though apparently is still talk they could re-sign him, on a lower wage deal. You would think though it needs to happen very soon. MLS starts in a month.

Only thing with having guys Stateside, is can be more difficult for them to be available for the AWs.

MLS doesn't generally stop in FIFA windows, and come the Sept & Oct windows (AWs world cup qualifiers this year) especially it's MLS playoff time.

But yeah good to see both Musa and Adams make the step up from the 2nd tier USL.

Think both Brotherton and Collier are going for green cards as well, if they haven't got them already.

Can Mods please update Adams' club. Cheers

Houston open their MLS campaign by hosting LA Galaxy.

Lot of match hype as Galaxy have signed Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.

Which probably has every Mexican in Texas, heading to Houston.

Unfortunately Adams not included in the match day squad, for season opener.

Adams loaned back to Rio Grande Valley who opened their season today.

Not the return he would've been after though, RGV spanked 5-1 at home be LA Galaxy II. Full 90 for Adams.

Mods can you please update his club to Houston Dynamo.

That's who he's signed with, even is still playing with RGV for now.

Full game for RGV in 4-2 win over OKC Energy.

Season over for RGV who are out of the USL playoffs.

If that AWs game against England happens in early Nov, Adams could be a possible selection, given shortage of available quality defenders. That's if somehow he can travel to the UK without having to self isolate for 2 weeks.

Though he is technically contracted to Houston who will likely be involved in MLS playoffs come Nov. However I'm pretty sure he's never been in a match day squad for them, this MLS season.

From this weeks Flying Kiwis

  • Kyle Adams (Houston Dynamo) – Contract option declined after spending the entire season on loan in the USL

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

Moves to another USL side, Real Monarchs. Can Mods please update. Cheers

https://twitter.com/RealMonarchs/status/1347650169...

"Change of scenery for Kyle Adams after three years playing for Rio Grande Valley (the last of which spent on loan as a wider squad member of the Houston Dynamo MLS side, though he never played for them). 61 appearances for RGV with plenty of those as captain. But now he’s off to Utah where he’s signed with Real Monarchs for the 2021 season – the feeder team to Real Salt Lake in the MLS... and if the team name sounds familiar that’s because he’s the second New Zealander to sign there recently: Max Mata also joined the squad a few weeks back.

RSL Assistant GM Tony Beltran: “We are thrilled to welcome Kyle Adams to the Monarchs and Real Salt Lake organizational player pool. Kyle is a well-rounded left-footed center back, who we feel will not only complement the direction of our Monarchs roster but who will also, under the tutelage of our coaching staff, have the potential to make the jump to the first team.”

So that all sounds great. Promises and pathways and praise. Just what you wanna hear when you sign with a new club. Adams is the seventh player under contract for 2021 for the Monarchs (who’ll probably be banking on a few first team loanees as well). He has a green card too so he’s registered as a local.

Up Next: New season’s still a couple months away, we don’t know exactly when yet"

Both Adams and Max Mata start for Real Monarchs, at San Antonio in the USL.
Can Mods please update Adams's club to Real Monarchs.

Edit  2-2 draw. Mata subbed off at 87 mins (2-2), full game Adams.
SA down to 10 men from 31 mins, and RM then had player sent off later at 75 mins.

Adams & Mata both start as Real Monarchs (7th & last in Western Mountain Conference) host New Mexico United (4th).

Still no Deklan Wynne. Actually looks like he is not even at Real Monarchs now. With his bro Ronan back up in Colorado at uni or something? From what I can see, the last time he played a game of competitive football was June 2019 (2 years ago!).
https://www.rsl.com/post/2021/05/20/real-monarchs-sign-defender-jaziel-orozco-rsl-academy

Real Monarchs current roster as of 20/05/21
Goalkeepers: Jimmy Slayton
Defenders: Kyle Adams, James Moberg, Jaziel Orozco, Kevin Saucedo, Timi Sobowale
Midfielders: Ibrahim Bance, Julio Benitez, Sam Brown, Brayan Gomez, Josimar Quintero
Forwards: Aris Briggs, Malik Johnson, Max Mata, Juan Vidal

Good trivia question. AWs 2 wing backs (still only 26 & 27 yrs old) against Peru in the 2017 intercontinental playoffs. Where are they now?

Full game for Adams, and 69 mins for Mata in a 0-1 loss. Score 0-0 when Mata came off.

Being an affiliate reserve team to MLS side Real Salt Lake, I presume Monarchs (last in their Mountain Conference) are a pretty young side. Though they did win the USL Championship final in 2019.

Full game in a 1-0 loss at his old team Rio Grande Valley (1st Western Mountain Conference) in the USL. Mata an unused sub.

Real Monarchs (6th same conference), had a guy sent off at 81 mins, who had only been subbed on 5 mins earlier.

From afar seems none of Mata, Matt Garbett or Logan Rogerson doing much club wise. Waine with inside running to join Wood in Tokyo? That's if the Woodsman is available. Garbett to go as 3rd striker, in a 18 man squad, as having the most future upside??

Barba might even go as an over age pick. Yet to be coached by Hay (missed those Nov 2019 AWs friendlies), and likely still a future important player for AWs, especially if Wood is ever injured, aka those Peru playoffs in 2017.
