Both seem stronger in the air and holding the ball than Kosta or possibly Waine. Definitely I don’t think it’s clear who’s stronger holding the ball out if Waine, Mata and Dyer.
If we’re going to build around howitzer crosses and set pieces as crucial scoring chances, Kosta and Randall, and possibly Waine are unable to provide half the strength and target Wood does.
They go again in a couple of days against Tainan City (Taiwan) where a draw will see them through to the next round.

Result sees Phnom Penh through to the quarter finals next March. Dyer also leads the goalscorers charts in the competition with 5. He's got 7 if you include the preliminary round qualifiers.

Another goal and a painful faceplant for Moses Dyer (he was okay, don’t worry)

Dyer now has 12 goals and 2 assists in 14 games since moving to Cambodia #FlyingKiwis pic.twitter.com/2FjCrpb3Je
Game prior that (Dec 27th) got a double in a 3-2 win. The first a pen.
Dyer with 13 goals, in 16 games (CPL & AFC matches) for Phnom Penh Crown, who are now top of the CPL table.

If Eze leaves the Nix end of season, they should have a look at Dyer.
Can't see how long his contract with Phnom Penh Crown is, but again if the Nix can't retain Eze, suggest Dyer is worth looking at.
Phnom Penh Crown are into the AFC Challenge League (3rd tier AFC comp) quarterfinals (East), where they will play fellow CPL side PKR Svay Rieng over 2 legs.
Dyer (5 goals) is the leading scorer in the AFC Challenge League (East & West).
I think this is the same comp that the Mariners won back in 2023/24 when they nabbed a treble of trophies, clocking up some impressive air miles in the process.
Moses Dyer with 3 goals and an assist across a pair of wins this week

Mighty Moses is up to 15 goals and 3 assists in 17 games across all comps since joining Phnom Penh Crown#FlyingKiwis 💪 pic.twitter.com/Wx1IZjW16k
Meanwhile a young Irish kid with braces discovers Moses still has World Cup ambitions. Another who could benefit by there being 26 man squads, though surely he would need to be part of the squad in March to get a look in for the big dance, that's after being out of the AWs setup for many years.

Still think he could be a semi Eze replacement at the Nix, having no idea how long his current contract in Cambodia is.

AFC Challenge League (3rd tier AFC comp) as Phnom Penh Crown host fellow Cambodian side Svay Rieng. Quarter finals Eastern Conference, first leg. 2nd leg next week.
These are the two best clubs currently in the CPL. Svay Rieng (1st) hold a 5 point lead on Phnom Penh Crown (2nd).
AFC Challenge League is sort of the same AFC trophy the Mariners won two seasons ago in their treble season. Then called the AFC Cup.

With Wood out and the likes of ADJ doing bugger all in Sth Africa, he must be a chance (likely small) of a call up in March. More so if is yes a 26 man squad is named, like the WC will be.
It's now or never for Dyer. Scores a double in this game and Baze will have to at least consider him.

Was at the top or near in the LOI and wild be the same in Cambodia surely.
Is he due a move to something bigger?
Moving to Cambodia was money driven. A very low cost of living and from memory somewhere above $NZD100K post tax in wages.
Looks like the CPL finishes about May, and I think it was just a one year deal.
I reckon the Nix could do worse than take a punt on Dyer with Eze almost certainly gone.
Unfortunately for PPC, then went on to concede 4 unanswered goals. Still the 2nd leg next week, but PPC's Asian adventure looks basically over.
Ghanian who had two seasons in the Sth African PSL with Orlando Pirates, a hat trick for the victors.
Looking at Svay Rieng they had 8 starters that were non Cambobians. Mostly visa journeyman, but they had the Ghanian, a Scot who had 2 seasons at Motherwell in the SPL, a Portuguese guy who played J1/2, a Moroccan defender with many years in the Dutch 2nd tier with Almere City (Woud's old club), and a couple of Japanese guys. So some useful overseas players.
Match highlights. This is as big a game as it gets in Cambodia. AFC tie, between top 2 teams in the CPL.

Compared to Max Mata, I think Dyer is the sort of guy who can score an absolute worldie. A bit Brockie like. He scored some real bangers during his short time with Galway in the LOI.
Meanwhile I think Mata is better with that strong hold up play, that's really useful when a team wants to go long. Scores less goals but has other strengths.
Baze might pick one of them later this month with Wood out, and it possibly being a 25-26 man squad. If so it's likely Mata he goes with.
Costly loss for Phnom Penh Crown who now fall 6 pts behind CPL leaders Svay Rieng.
Who knows if Mata hadn't played well the last 2 games for St Pats in the LOI, Baze might have picked Dyer with Wood out, plus sounds like a possible 25-26 man squad to be picked this month.
I think a good chance that Mata will now be picked to back up Waine & Barba.
