Nik Tzanev (Northampton Town | UK)
Rock on, the new Kiwi Womble! Hopefully he can keep us in League One this year, so we can fill New Plough Lane when it's open and not have to defile it with league matches against the hated Franchise.
Still yet to be in a match day squad in League One, this season.
Though do notice he was on the bench for an EFL Trophy game against Chelsea U21, in early December. Played at the Bridge.
Like Scun-thorpe, AFC Wimbledon are now in a scrap to avoid the drop, being 2nd last on the League One table.
AFC Wimbledon: “Nik Tzanev has today joined Potters Bar Town on loan for a month to gain more first-team experience. The 22-year-old Dons goalkeeper, who is a New Zealand international, could make his debut for the Scholars in their league match at Bognor Regis Town on Saturday. There is a Wimbledon connection at Potters Bar Town with joint manager Lee O’Leary having played for the Dons back in 2007. Nik has been on the first-team bench for Wimbledon since joining us in 2017, but he will aim to get more senior experience under his belt at the Bostik Premier League club.”
Potters Bar Town are in English 7th tier.
Flying Kiwis again.

Development Coach Alan Reeves: “Nik has done well. He came here just to train initially following a bad injury at Brentford. Every upward step that we have put him on he has taken it in his stride. He’s on loan at Potters Bar at the moment and they are really pleased with him. They have extended his loan, but we’ve got a call back on him if need be. Nik has all the attributes to be an excellent goalkeeper. Mentally there was a question mark, but at Potters Bar he has stepped up and played men’s football. Every step you make on that ladder you are asked more and more questions. You have to answer those questions, otherwise you fall back down a level.”
There are two ways that loans tend to go. One is the no-longer-needed loan and one is the development loan. Tzanev is out with Potters Bar where he’s getting senior starts in the Isthmian League and given he’s extended his contract with AFC Wimbledon in the process it’s pretty clear they’ve got him in mind for a future with the club. Always what we want to see. Tzanev made his debut for the All Whites last year over in India.
Tzanev looks to be the number 2 keeper at AFC Wimbledon now, behind a young keeper who is on loan from West Ham. Hopefully Tzanev gets a chance between the sticks for the Dons - to me, he is the best keeper for the AWs .

Definitely
Fair enough. I'd need to see more to have any sort of opinion, but definitely not one I've seen others express so surprised me a little.
No way is he better than Woud (and I'm not counting Marinovic in that considering he is in his late 20s)
Made his starting League One debut.
Unfortunately Wimbledon lost 1-2 at home to Rotherham.
Be interesting to read any reports on how he went.
Reading that he played incredibly and stopped the scoreline from being much worse
Another start in League One, but unfortunately another 2-1 loss, this time at Fleetwood Town.
Played in stormy weather, sounds like Tzanev may have misjudged a cross in the wind that lead to a goal.

Joey Barton manages Fleetwood!
From this week's Flying Kiwis.
Not really a from 'the slums of Sao Paulo' type story.
Flying Kiwis is a great weekly wrap (must take hours to write up) of overseas Kiwi footballers. For as little as a single measly $1USD/month, can support them in their efforts. Link below
See Wimbledon host MK Dons in the League Cup tomorrow morning.
Could be an interesting game for Tzanev to be in!
They'll play each other min 3 times this season, MK Dons being back in League One.
Wimbledon scored at 94 mins, to level up 2-2 in NT against MK Dons in the League Cup.
Straight to pen shootout, which unfortunately MK Dons won 4-2. Tzanev made 1 save in the shootout.
Back on the bench this morning - Dons drew 1 all with Accrington Stanley
On the bench in a 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town.
On the bench as Wimbledon lose 3-1 in front of 30,000 at Stadium of Light.
Sunderland 4th in League One.
In the bench as Wimbledon draw 0-0 with Wycombe.
On the bench in a 2-1 loss at nemesis MK Dons.
On the bench as Wimbledon draw 1-1 with Shewsbury Town.
On the bench as the Dons (3rd last) lose 2-1 at League One leaders Coventry.
Coventry with the winner at 93 mins.
On the bench as AFC Dons go down at home to Bristol Rovers 1-3.
Dons had player sent off at 66 mins, and at that stage was 1-1.
They are 2nd last on the table.
On the bench for a 3-2 loss at The Posh
On the bench as AFC Dons beat fellow League One strugglers Rochdale 3-2.
On the bench as AFC Dons win 4-1 at Southend.
Two wins in a row for the Dons, who rise to 3rd last.
On the bench, as Dons win again this time 1-0 at home verus Portsmouth.
Dons go just above the relegation spots into 20th.
If AWs pick 3 keepers in Nov, I'd take Tzanev. No point taking Crocombe all the way to Europe to get splinters, and lose his starting Roar spot to Young.
On the bench for a 1-0 loss at Burton Albion.
Dons back into relegation spots at 3rd last on table.
On the bench with a 1-1 draw verus Lincoln City.
Dons are 20th one spot above MK Dons and relegation spots.
On the bench for a 1-1 draw at Doncaster Rovers in FA Cup.
Missing from match day squad as AFC Dons lose 2-0 at Blackpool.

Has gone out on loan to Sutton United.

Makes some sense if he becomes the starting keeper there.
Sutton are currently 3rd bottom in the National League (English 5th tier).
They had a 2-1 win over Rory's Torquay on the weekend. Tzanev not in the squad.

Sorry right you are. I either misread the Soccerway team lists initially, or they have since changed it.
Anyway good to see him starting straight away.
Full game in a 0-2 loss to Bromley (2nd on table).
Sutton 3rd from bottom.
In goal for a 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge
Maybe Mods could update to Sutton United, his current loan club. Probably there until season end.
