Got 74 minutes, in a much needed 2-1 over Fagiano Okayama today.

Gifu were down 0-1 when de Vries subbed off.

Also I note back in September, Gifu had a famous visitor to their club.

Someone familiar to A League fans.

61 mins in a 0-0 draw verus Matsumoto Yamaga.

Gifu remain 1 spot but 7 points above the drop zone.

Scores both goals in 2-0 win over JEF United.

Up to now he’d only scored 1 goal in 21 appearances (18 starts)!

Should give his confidence a huge boost.

Gifu highly likely safe now from relegation being 10 pts above the drop zone, though below teams have games in hand.

One with the right peg & one more scuffed with the left.

Awesome news.  Seemed to be full of running and making great runs, especially for the second goal.

Gets 84 mins before being subbed in a 0-1 home loss to Montedio Yamagata.

With two J2 games to go I think is mathematically impossible for Gifu to be relegated.

Hopefully de Vries has done enough, to extend his stay in Japan.

Scores again, as Gifu draw 1-1 with exotically named Mito Hollyhock.

Gifu have 1 game left and are definitely safe from relegation.

Scroll about half way down home page to FC Gifu TV.

About 5 mins of video highlights up of today's game. Gifu in white (Mito in blue) and de Vries number 10.

Takes his goal very nicely, breaking from near half way, and shooting into bottom left corner beating the keeper.

Season over for Gifu and De Vries.

Shame, just as he was starting to feature more regularly and was scoring a few goals. Hopefully he has got them measure of the league now and can take it up a notch next year. Not even rooting for him as a potential AW, I simply like to see local kids who played national league go on and do well.

Good to hear - seemed to have a strong finish.

Hopefully he nails down a starting spot next year and then who knows what can happen from there..

he is well loved in Gifu, and he is looked at as a started now. he struggled really badly with match fitness for a large part of the season. took him a long time to get up to speed.

90 mins in a 2-0 loss to Ehime.

Gifu also lost midweek to Ventforet Kofu, by 2-0. De Vries missed that game.

68 mins in a 0-4 home loss to V-Varen Nagaski.

I note Gifu had 58% possession and still lost by 4 goals.

20th or 3rd last, with only 5 goals in 9 games.

Prior to this game Varen Nagaski had actually been below them on the table!

Gets 60 mins in a 1-0 home loss to Mito Hollyhock (top of the table).

Gifu (21st or 2nd last) again dominate possession with 57% of the ball.

Good to see De Vries continue to start. But wondering if he is not converting chances, given Gifu keep winning the possession stakes, however still losing.

They have only scored 5 goals in 9 games. De Vries with one.

Is this a new season for Gifu - or are they close to being dropped from Div 2?

De Vries misses another game, as Gifu host Ryukyu.

I was subbed after only 60 mins in his last start (April 21st), so maybe injured.

64 mins in a 2-3 loss to Zweigen Kanazawa.

A sub came on at 55 mins and scored both Gifu’s goals.

De Vries on other hand is struggling to score.

Gifu dead last.

Gets 15 mins off the bench as Gifu (22nd & last on table), get spanked 5-1 by JEF United (14th).

De Vries with Gifu's goal at 90 minutes.

Jason Geria (ex Melb Victory) an unused sub for JEF United.

God they're a pretty awful team and a perennial struggler in the J2 League. Since it went to a 22 team league in 2012, they've not achieved a finish higher than 17th...

Looks like they'll be fighting for survival again this season. Dead last, although they've got some 28 more games to turn it around.

Good to see De Vries nab himself a goal too, hopefully pushes his case for a spot in the starting XI.

76 mins in a 1-2 home loss to Machida Zelvia.

Down 0-2 when he was subbed off.

Looking grim for Gifu, dead last and this was a home loss to a team only a few spots above them before the game.

68 mins in a 1-0 loss at Kashiwa Reysol.

0-0 when he was subbed off. Kashiwa's scorer a 25 year old Kenyan (Olunga), who had a season in La Liga with Girona.

Gifu remain last with 12 goals in 16 games.

Subbed at 50 mins, as Gifu lose 1-3 at home to Albirex Niigata.

Gifu were 0-2 down when De Vries taken off.

Yet again Gifu dominated the possession stakes with 57% of the ball. Remain last on the table.

Niigata are one of the biggest (if not biggest) club in the J2 League. Spent most of 2000's in J1, and for one season in their heyday averaged homes crowds of 40,000 plus.

Gifu really need to fire their coach.  He is shark.    Don’t see anything else than relegation for Hofu sadly though

Heartbreak for Gifu who concede at 92 mins to lose 2-1 at Omiya Ardija.

Gifu remain last, whilst that win took Ardija for the moment to top of the table.

Tough loss for Gifu.

De Vries got 75 mins before being subbed off. Score 1-1 at that stage.
