Will make it more interesting when Sydney FC come over here to play Newcastle and West Ham anyway...
A good move for him - should do well if fit....
Regarding the "journeyman" term above used by Marto - can have two meanings as it applies to a footballer: 1. A player who has played for several different clubs. 2. An experienced and competent but undistinguished worker or performer. An international of many caps and distinction for his country, second-highest scorer in his league's history and just signed by the wealthiest club in the league, can never be called a "journeyman" in the second sense. But he can fit the first definition.
Wiki explains the differing American and British meanings of "journeyman" well here - although here it fails to point out both meanings above are in fact used in Britain:

Interesting fact - former Otago goalie Lutz Pfannenstiel from Germany is cited as the #1 example in the world of a "journeyman" on Wikipedia !!!

"Pfannenstiel is mostly famous for having played for 25 different clubs all around the world during his career, including stints in Germany, England, New Zealand, Singapore, United States, Brazil, South Africa, Finland, Malaysia, Belgium, Canada, Namibia, Norway, Armenia and Albania. After signing for Hermann Aichinger in Brazil, he became the first (and only) professional to have played in all six FIFA confederations."
