On bench again versus Seattle. Rare start for Bernie Ibini

Started today's match against Sporting Kansas City. 1-0 Whitecaps just under an hour played.

Marinovic looking solid, although just as I say that, almost made a fool of from a 30 yard free kick.

Just finished 1-0 to Vancouver. A real smash and grab performance from Whitecaps, breaks SKC's 24 match unbeaten home run.

Marinovic made some crucial saves, had his post rattled from a missed penalty and the crossbar hit from a 30 yard free kick.

looked like a slight deflection off the wall on the free kick? Great goal too...things got interesting at the end there...

Ousted played in 3-0 loss previous game, so Marinovic may have sneaked ahead in starting keeper race.

Finishes 1-1. Also playing for Vancouver and their goal scorer, was Jose Yordy Reyna of Peru.

He must be doing well, haven't heard any members of the fever elite knocking him for some time.

May have to listen to some of those old podcasts to remember.

Nominated for Save of the Week in the MLS, and displaced one of, if not THE best goalkeeper in the entire league, safe to say he's doing okay :) Excited to see his development since he's still got a good 10 years in him as a keeper, hopefully a move to Europe as the MLS has recently been shark at development

I’ll bite (hopefully the last time). From what I remember the criticism was always aimed around the fact he played lower league football in Germany while other GKs played much higher, Gleeson included. This was fact, not opinion. Now that he’s at that higher level I think most people are pretty happy, not only for having our number 1 in a competitive league but also for him. He grafted but got the gig which was almost certainly from performances for the AWs, he can thank Hudson for that but he also fully deserves it. Your bias for him made things ugly back then if anything. I don’t blame you for getting behind your mate but as I remember it the majority of the debate was nothing personal from anyone anti his selection. You can’t blame people for being sceptical and the so called ‘elite’ don’t spend a whole heap of time praising any players in this part of the forum so I don’t know why you’re expecting it now. Have your ‘told you so’ moment though.

Fuck this stupid game

I was not ugly.

I said he was the best goal keeper in NZ. Nothing more nothing less.

And that he is.

Your comment is ugly - take a chill pill (actually take a few you need it)

You were getting on the end of your mate. It was ugly. At the time it was too early for anyone to be certain that he was the best. Fact.

Reread your above post. It would rank up there as one of the dumbest you have ever posted

Then reread this entire thread and quote the ugliest thing I have ever said

Then have that pill and admit you are a muppet

Mods, could we please have a forum rule from now on where if what you are saying is true, you have to type 'fact' at the end of your statement? It would make it easier for people like me to understand what is true and what isn't. Thanks

Conceded a goal straight after the start of the second half, Whitecaps down 2-1

A very costly loss for Vancouver as they drop to 3rd in the Western Conference, and now have a knock out tie verus Colvey's San Jose on Wednesday or Thursday. Top two teams in each Conference progress straight to two legged Conference semis.

Portland & Seattle finished top two in Western Conference, and straight to the two legged semis - dates Oct 29-31 and Nov 5th.

For AWs preparation verus Peru, probably best Vancouver lose to San Jose - so Marinovic, is available as early as possible. San Jose may release Colvey early, as he has barely featured for San Jose this MLS season.

Even I would have caught that. Still think that Marinovic is our best keeper by far and a huge talent.

No fault on the second goal imho but he certainly could have done better on the first one...

Agree that he is the best GK we have - although I haven't seen Gleeson play for a long time to be fair.

Marinovic is definitely the best we have, but as a nation, we have so much depth in Kiwi keepers

We have:

Marinovic, Gleeson, Woud, Sail, Moss, Tzanev, Crocombe, Williams - Smith is an emerging talent (Don't think he is ready but adds to depth)

Sucks to be a keeper with international dreams, needing to be one of th best three in the entire country. Reminds me of Slovenia, this tiny central European country has two of the best goalkeepers in the world in Handanović and Oblak and one of them’s forced to warm the bench when 99% of other countries would start them - and then you have the rest of the Slovenian keepers :(

apparently there are about 6 of them who are better players than any of the outfielders. hence why handanovic called it a day

Starting for the Caps in their play off game. Currently 0-0

Half time right now in that game, 1-0 to the Caps. Twitter chatter tells me that Marinovic made a stellar save in the early stages from a free kick. Fans right now are still a bit pissed that Ousted isn't starting (check the replies here: https://twitter.com/WhitecapsFC/status/923367352930103296 ), and apparently he's leaving at the end of the season
