"When Tim's jersey was launched at the Olimpia Store, 8,000 items sold out"
"It's impressive what it generates from that point on"
"Since I've been president, the jersey of the player that has sold the most"
"In the medium to long term, it's going to end up paying for itself and even generating profits for the club. But he's not among the 10 highest-paid players on the squad"
Rodrigo "Coto" Nogués, president of Olimpia, on the impact of Tim Payne
"With his arrival, two new sponsors were added. After yesterday's goal, 3 to 4 new brands approached. Then there's the worldwide exposure for the Olimpia brand. It's the most-watched goal of the weekend around the world."
"Since Tim's arrival, there are three factors: first, the sporting one, by bringing in a World Cup player from a league that exports soccer players to England."
"He has a very strong shot; he was in charge of set pieces for the New Zealand national team."

Finishes 0-0. Payne an unused sub.
I'm guessing that's considered a good result away by Olimpia.
Return leg next week.
Over the weekend Olimpia host Ameliano in the league. Maybe Timmy P finally gets a start amongst a heavy schedule of games.

Tim Pine is right. Peaked a couple of years ago, then injuries and ageing, and here we are, heading for a slightly early retirement. Clearly Olimpia don't rate him.
This was a great bit of business for Tim and for Wellington, who shoulda given Loke more of a go.

He doesnt speak Spanish so hes going to need time to learn the onfield calls. Plus its a new country a new league, a new style of football. The club also has an established player in his position

Of course its going to time for him to get up to speed.
Payne has had injury issues but hes hardly a dud. He had a solid WC and didnt look out of place. We will miss him at the Nix IMO. Do you think we will get the same leadership and assists out of the two youngsters who will playing RB this season?
Give the guy a break. Hes given great service to the Nix over the years and deserves some respect

Getting praise across the board - best crosser in the team, for some, though no assists today. People hoping he starts more regularly now and takes that starting RB role
