Begs the question: is he doing us a favour or doing McCarthy a favour?

He is not doing us a favour or Ipswich, it's always about Tommy

Why do his motivations even matter? If the group is happy to accept him back then his performances will benefit all 3 parties involved. Win/win/win, unless your name is Luke Adams.

Smith plays first half for Ipswich at Cardiff City. When subbed off score was 1-1. Tractor Boys finish with a 1-3 loss.

Ipswich lie 17th, 5 pts above Blackburn who currently occupy the last relegation spot.

Good to have you back Tommy.

Dont think you will win many over on here though.

"Tommy Smith is a changed man.

That was the impression he wanted to give on Wednesday, saying he was "100 per cent committed" to the All Whites and promising that he would never again turn his back on his country.

Smith has played in only two of the last 17 All Whites matches, choosing to prioritise his club commitments during most of the last three-and-a-half years.

But not anymore.

"[I'm] delighted to be back and 100 per cent committed going forwards, no question," said Smith. "I can understand [fans] questioning me, to be honest, but there are factors there that I don't want to get into.

"It's down to me to prove them wrong, show my commitment and hopefully win them over."

Football: Tommy Smith '100 per cent committed' to All Whites

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/90724112/many-reasons-behind-tommy-smiths-absence-from-the-all-whites-but-hes-focused-on-the-future

The addition of United Kingdom-based assistant coach Peter Taylor was a welcome addition as well, Smith said, having worked with Taylor as a 17-year-old on loan at the then-English non-league club Stevenage.

"He was my first manager at first-team level...I'm indebted to him really for thrusting me into men's football initially, so I've got a really good personal relationship with him and his experience over in England is going to stand him in good stead.

Was he thinking of joining women's football?  what an odd way to word it.

Played full 90 mins in a 0-1 loss at Rotherham. I think that is his first full 90 mins for Ipswich 1st team, since him return from surgery.

Even before his injury we were well stacked with defenders for the Solomon Islands matches.

A midfield player would be refreshing.

Ipswich v Norwich in the East Anglia derby.

No Smith in Ipswich match day squad.

Did play 45 mins for U23s (with Patterson) earlier in the week.

Plays full 90 mins and picks up a yellow, as Cardiff win 3-1.

Great news he is back playing 1st team football.

Unsurprisingly not in match day squad as Ipswich draw 2-2 away at Hull.

Plays his first top level game since Peru in Wellington.

Ipswich lose 1-4 away to Fulham, but were actually ahead 1-0 until Spence was sent off in 54th minute. After that all fell apart

According to this article he's been offered a deal with Anthony Hudson at the Colorado Rapids.

Step down in my opinion, but if not getting game time, normally you go where best fit.

Whilst  he appears not to be flavour of the month at Ipswich, think at his age and with his history, he wouldn't have an issue picking up another championship gig.

No way he is going to reunite with our Anthony
