The standard in this game is awful. I think below the A League surely, no tempo and very little good passing evident
You are watching a game where one of the teams is managed by Anthony Hudson. It isn't going to be champagne.

Finished 6-0 to RSL. Wynne got on for the last 20 mins too.
Live on Duke. Down 1-0 early to Real Salt Lake. Niki Jackson has been sent off for Rapids for what looked like a headbutt attempt on an RSL player. No contact and a bit of a soft send off in my opinion.
Rapids making most of the play in the early stages though. Several corners and set pieces with a header cleared off the line.
Wynne on the bench.

I thought after the 1st sending off RSL went to sleep. Then it was scrappy until the 2nd goal was scored just after the half hour mark - no real quality or speed to the game, but can see what RSL trying to do, keep possession & just dragging the Rapids out of position and tiring them out.
They know they don't have to make the play or force the issue as they've essentially wrapped up the 3 points already. Rapids will do well to keep it to 3 or 4 from here.
I thought it was borderline unwatchable
Plays 90 mins as Colorado lose 2-0 to Portland.
Wynne and Tuiloma are both unused subs.
More pressure on Huddo no doubt.
trying to leverage something using us?
Wrong fred
90 mins in a 3-0 home loss to Atlanta.

As someone mentioned in the Hudson thread - some of the playing out from the back from Smith and co was awful.
Wynne an unused sub.
Rapids dim playoff hopes officially over.
Can the coach keep his job until season end.
I'd love Rudes to try and poach Smith or Tuiloma.
90 mins and a yellow in 4-0 loss at Seattle.
90 mins also for Wynne.

Seattle looks fun.
Seattle looks fun.
Crowd over 40,000
The angst continues in Denver.
Rapids comfortably beaten 3-0 by LAFC.
Smith 90 mins. Wynne an unused sub.
Gosh! Does this mean than our dear old Anthony actually is not a very good coach Well who would have thought that???
I have an American soccer friend who recently told me that Anthony is widely considered one of the worst coach's ever to come to the MLS.
His All White tenure was another of Martins stupid mistakes!!!!!
Smith is such a spud. Rapids win 2-0. Score their second in injury time. Tommy Smith runs off the pitch to the home side's bench to celebrate. Giving it to the home fans. Melee begins. He gets sent off and as he walks off gives it the 2-0 signal with his fingers.

He tried really hard to sell the "What? Me? What did I do?" act with the referee.

So Rapids beat Boxall's Minnesota 2-0.

Didn't see the game.
Smith can be a tool sometimes for sure. Heart on his sleeve character.
Brain explosion not surprising. He hasn't been playing well, team has been shark. Rumours of dressing room splits. Agruing with Rapids fans. Hugely frustrating season.
I presume he had been baited by Minnesota fans or even of some of their players in the game. Pretty dumb though, if he is still playing MLS in 2019 he's just painted a big target on his back as someone, who can be needled to do stupid shark.
Wynne played 2nd half.
Boxall 90 mins for Minnesota and involved with a howler re conceding 2nd goal. Be interesting to know what he said to Smith post game - oh to be a fly on the wall. They were both fans of Hudson as AWs coach, be interesting to know what they think now etc.

A minute before Smith did the stupid thing to get sent off he was having a go at Minnesota players, with Boxall holding him back, some ugly words said I think, not sure if they'll be chatting post-game.
Scores the winner as Rapids upset Dallas 2-1.
90 mins for both him and Wynne. Colvey a rare bench appearance though not required off it.
Rapids season finishes on a slight positive note.
Apart from missing last week due to suspension, Smith played every minute of the Rapids other 33 MLS games. Scored 3 goals.
Feel good finish to the season for Rapids with a 17 yr old local kid scoring their first goal. Smith of course uses his head to score the winner. Not sure what his post match celebration, finger to the lips sssssshhhhh was all about.
Conspiracy theory maybe, but I noted a few of his nearby team mates weren't that excited when he scored the late winner. Dressing room rift?
looked like it was directly aimed at their own fans

Well they've copped crap and been crap for a lot of the season and Smith seems to fan flames rather than trying to win them back and be conciliatory.

Having said that, I would take him as a Durante replacement next year in a heartbeat, should the option arise.
Also from this weeks Flying Kiwis -
"Tommy Smith ended a frustrating season with Colorado as the club’s second top scorer. He was also awarded their best defender at the club’s prizegiving. Personally he didn’t do all that badly but it was a shocking campaign overall and if Anthony Hudson can’t up the results then he won’t last too long into 2019. But who cares about that right now? Here’s Tommy Smith chatting on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s A Pitch podcast.
Smithy: “For me personally it’s been a great experience, a lot different to playing Championship football. Results didn’t go as planned but a great experience and hopefully next year we can build on that and be successful. It’s a great place, Denver itself as a city is fantastic. The climate’s great, we play through the summer so the weather’s always really nice and the mountains are only an hour away so my wife skis a little bit, she’s been up into the mountains a fair bit. We’ve had lots of visitors come over and they’ve said nothing but good things about the place, so we’re really lucky in that regard.”
As for the standard of the MLS these days, Smithy’s very well qualified to chat about that…
Smithy again: “It’s a lot better than I thought it was going to be, especially the attacking players. You get DPs, Designated Players, in the MLS where you can pay them any amount of money and that’s usually spent on attackers. So it’s been a tough job for me this year trying to cope with players like Zlatan, Rooney, Giovinco at Toronto, you’re coming up against high calibre players. And it’s only getting better, more and more players are going over there in their prime, there are a lot of good Central and South American players, as well as good American players that people don’t give due recognition to. I’m sure the league will grow and grow in years to come.”
Up Next: According to Smithy, it’s time for some time off, before visiting family in New Zealand at Christmas, then back to the States for preseason in late January"
Smith starting and Wynne on the bench as Rapids visit Dallas.
Tommy with the goal as Rapids lose 2-1 at Dallas (winner at 82 mins).

Bad news for Huddo. Colorado 2 losses & 2 draws now to start the season.
Wynne remains on the bench.

Smith's goal was off his thigh after keep had made a save. Wasn't given initially but after VAR they found it did cross the line.
The other centre back Sjoberg had a shocker.

Match highlights.
Rapids 0-3 down at HT in Colorado verus Houston.
Two OGs in first half.
Smith starting and Wynne on the bench.
Pressure building on Huddo. Only relief maybe, is they don't yet look the worst team in Western Conference with 2 D & 2 L so far.
San Jose 4 losses to start the season and a -12 GD already.
Finishes 4-1 to Houston with Smith sent off (straight red) at 89 mins.
Wonder if any of the home fans got into him, like last season.
Wynne stays on the pine.

Red was for a two footed lunge apparently. Stupid stuff.

Looks like he was trying to score, when lunging in. Also involved trying to head in late on, when Rapids got their pen. Certainly likes to get forward in the MLS.
Perhaps better to concentrate on his defensive duties. Houston's forwards just too quick for him & his team mates it seemed.
Hudson out? Don't think the poor Colorado fan's/board will take much more of this.
The guy has an 8 Win, 9 Draw, 22 Loss record and plays the same setup week in week out. Tactical inflexibility and a failure to cope under adversity. I said it somewhere about him last season, but quite often if the Rapids concede 1, they'll quite often ship 2 or 3. Looks like nothing has changed since last season. Guess it all depends on how much they have to pay out to the previous manager, before Hudson gets the boot?
Stan Kroenke owns the team and he won't care so long as the value of the franchise continues to rise, which will keep happening as long as media rights deals continue going up.
Rapids host Rooney & DC United.
Smith nods on to a team mate from a corner, and Colorado take the lead.

Wynne is on the bench.
Finished 3-2 to DC United. Colorado have only 2 points from 7 games, and the worst defensive record in the MLS at the moment.

And Hudson still has the top job. Laughable.
That is not a good highlight reel for Smith.
