has not played for a while. injured or just not good enough?
Quite pathetic the grudge held by (apparently) grown men towards a 20 year old kid.

Let's also remember that Boyd was hard done by, especially in his last season where he made a difference in most of the games when he came on.
Was he a bit of a cock? Maybe.
Did he have enough opportunities to prove his worth? Not sure.
As long as I find the whole Reading cinemas saga hilarious, I can kind of see his point.

Yes he has... since the 3-3 draw, the team has played 4 games, winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 1. Boyd has featured in every game -
31/8/15 Full 90 H 1-0 v Olhanense
13/9/15 Full 90 A 1-1 v Leixões
17/9/15 Sub on 72' H 0-0 v Atlético CP
21/9/15 Full 90 A 0-1 v Varzim
Along with Tyler, only the goalie and one defender has played in all the reserve side's eight games so far this season.
Surely a vote of confidence by the management in Tyler.
Many of the other players in the squad get juggled around from game to game.
Apologies for the slightly tardy response, GG. You are quite correct, Evangelista has gone as Vitória Guimarães have been in poor form. Yesterday, however, they appointed former Portugal international, Sérgio Conceição, as his successor. This is a big statement by the club as Conceição is a very sought-after coach in Portugal. He did an exceptional job with Braga last season (finished 4th) before falling out with the club's board. Tyler Boyd will learn a lot from him if he gets the chance to train with the first team.
Let's also remember that Boyd was hard done by, especially in his last season where he made a difference in most of the games when he came on.
Was he hard done by? I don't know. Some who know seem to think his problems were at least partially of his own making.
Were we hard done by? Yes. I think we should have got to see him play more than we did last season and if he had I think we would have won more games.
What you are saying is essentially what I said.
He should have played more as he could contribute to us winning games = as a professional footballer you are hard done by.
It was that fudgeing Weet Bix ad that ruined him. Everything went downhill from there. That and the interview where he talked about maybe playing for the US national team one day.
Another full 90 for Tyler in a 2-3 loss to Penafiel.
no grudges here. His attitude here was unfortunate, but that's in the past. Hope he grows up a bit over there though. And I actually want him to do so, I enjoy seeing him play and hope he can do well for the all whites.

What was wrong with his attitude again?
Did he not apply himself at training? Was he missing training sessions? Was his attitude during games for the WeeNix or Nix poor?

Yep, all hearsay, he said, she said ....
He showed an apaling taste in movies.
would it make you feel better if I said "alleged" attitude problem?
Looks as though Tyler is about to be given a chance with the first team squad for Monday night's game at Paços de Ferreira in the Liga NOS.
Sérgio Conceição's team is struggling badly this season but there are chinks of light appearing. Link to the football daily, Record, is here.
Be great if he got a few minutes under his belt with the first team. With his speed he could look quite threatening and make a good impression.
Looks like Tyler didn't make the first team squad after all for the game Monday last week:
Instead, Tyler was an unused sub for VG reserves at the weekend in the 2-0 away loss to Farense.
Before that he started and played 81 mins in the midweek home win vs. Academico Viseu on 4/11/15
http://int.soccerway.com/players/tyler-boyd/215116/
13 appearnaces: 8 starts, 5 as a sub
VG reserves lie twelfth on the 24 team Portuguese Segunda Liga (second division) table, equal on points with Benfica and Sporting Braga reserves. They are only five points off third:
http://int.soccerway.com/national/portugal/liga-de-honra/20152016/regular-season/r31743/
You'd think that the second top league in Portugal would be somewhat better the the ASB Premiership, so you wonder about the reasons for Tyler's non-selection for the All Whites.
Vitoria II don't play again until 22 November.
It's been a while since I posted on here regarding Tyler Boyd's progress so thought I'd take this opportunity.
It's been a real baptism of fire in Portuguese football for the striker. He's been in and out of the starting line-up for Vitória Guimarães B and still only has the one goal to his name. He did make a start for the side on Sunday - a 2-1 loss at Braga B - but was replaced after 65 minutes.
Vitória B are struggling quite badly this season and currently sit in the relegation zone in 20th position of the Segunda Liga. There is the added hurdle this season that 5 sides will be relegated as the FPF looks to shrink the second tier down from its current 24 clubs.
The side's next game is this coming Wednesday (9th) when Benfica B head north Guimarães. Benfica B included a certain Adel Taarabt (of QPR and AC Milan fame) in their line-up on the weekend, so no easy fixture.
Scored in a 3-0 win over benfica II this morning

Vid?
I notice that although Tyler has only scored two goals in his 18 appearances this season, he is actually the side's third equal highest goal scorer behind defender Dennis Duarte (five goals) and striker Bruno Mendes (three goals). Two other players have scored two goals.
http://int.soccerway.com/teams/portugal/vitoria-guimaraes-ii/21775/squad/
And that's after 21 games. Vitoria have scored 22 league goals in total so far this season.
So their players must be the most pants in Portugal at scoring.
Of their 14 squad members listed as "attackers", along with Tyler, only Mendes (3 goals) and Gui (2 goals) have scored more than one goal.
Vitoria II play Sporting II tomorrow morning.
Playing spasmodically for a shark team in the Portuguese 2nd Div. What a bloody waste of potential. Was he that unhappy or that keen to go to play in 'Europe'? Great way to ruin a career.
if you go back in this thread you will see a number of people thinking he did a dam good job to score this contract

I don't think it's a waste of potential. He's playing in a feeder club of a pretty decent team. You can't expect him to get signed by a Premier League club when he's just starting his career. Look at Thomas case for example, I prefer NZ players to play regularly rather than warming benches in English clubs and I think Boyd is making his way to that.
If Boyd can't make it in Pourtgal then he clearly doesn't have it. He is playing for a decently sized club and if he can get into the first team he will play against some of the best young players in Europe. Was riding the pine for the Nix really a better option?
I saw Boyd as being a future starter for us. He'd come on with 20-30 to go and do a job. Pace and confidence, bit of flair. Would've fitted in perfectly on the wing. More effective than Sarpong.
I heard all the rumours about his shark attitude so fair enough that he was riding the pine. If he sorted that out though and stuck it out I'd have him starting now.
Come on, you've gotta be joking, of course he wants to be where he is. If he's got a chance he can make it from where he is. If doesn't make it then he can come back to the A-league like so many others.
But he is waay better of where he is now, playing fairly regularly in Europe, than a some-time starter for the 'Nix. Are you really saying that he'd be ahead of Sarpong, McG or Roly? I don't think so and they've been our front 3 for the last little while.
Like Bill T has shown it's a bit of a lottery, but you have to be in to win. Phoenix to Europe first team is unlikely, especially from a player who was promising, but not a star in the team. He's got to be happy with where he is, and hoping he can improve his output and fortune.
Just because the last time we won at Hindmarsh was down to him and once again, like so many, many times before we are limping home from Adelaide, doesn't mean he isn't in the right place, just the Phoenix perhaps!
the proof will be when the all whites squads are selected this year. He has been a notable omission in Hudsons teams this year- the excuse being he has to establish himself- but that didn't apply to Bill or Marco. Anyway, this year will tell us in the outside just what his attitude was like as if it was as ribbish as they say Hudson won't pick him.
I agree that as s young footballer you have to give it a go in Europe. If it gets into the first team squad s couple of times next year then that will probably make for a good year. Hard though given their position on the table..

Bet Bill is wishing it bludy had applied to him!
Yeah - you have to feel for him. He was one of the better players at the U20's - he has all the composure, athleticism and skills- I think in the lower leagues you need to supplement that with desperation. He's too good to be one of the players coming home to the A League at age 21...

Tyler played the full 90 in the 1-0 home win vs. fifth place Sporting II the week before Xmas which elevated Vitoria to 13th on the table.
Away to table-topping Porto II on Monday morning NZT.
Tyler played the full 90 in Vitoria's 5-2 away loss last weekend to table-topping Porto II.
Leaves them 14th on the 24 team table.
It's really good that he's starting regularly even though he's not scoring goals.
According to Soccerway its a first team debut for Boyd. Home game v Portugese giants Porto!
Straight into starting lineup. Good luck to him. Some welcome good news on a young NZ football player!
Vitoria take early 1-0 lead
