all looking so good for AW form at the moment: Tommy Smith MVP at Ipswich, Chris Wood 5th in Championship goal tally, Winston MVP at the hammers, Marco on a four year deal to the Bundesliga and Brockie off to light up the MLS.

Anyone else find it slightly irritating that we have two class CB's playing in back 4's in the top two tiers of English football: Reid at West Ham in the EPL playing consistantly, gaining many plaudits and winner of Hammers Player of the Year and then Smith at Ipswich plying well getting Ipswich Fans Player of the Year and we stick with 3-4-3 for NZ?

I know we do not have a right back at the moment but imagine the pairing of these two. Both 22 and 24 respectively but get them playing regurlarly together for the NT and we have 10 years of a solid central defensive pairing...

Yes you're right. We all want that. The next year or so will be crucial. Tuiloma, Roux & Graham should perhaps all be given a run before November?

Are Reid and Smith always going to be playing in back 4 formation for the rest of their club careers though? I understand what youre saying though, especially given the present circumstances at least anyway

On top of being named "Hammer of the Year" as voted for by fans (including me), I notice Winston was also named "Players' Player of the Year" as voted for by his team-mates.
Very impressive double accolade!
Relatives in the East End (my mum's a Londoner) see him as a future Hammers captain and say everyone at the club is impressed by his good nature and quiet determination about the dressing room, as well as disciplined performances on the field.
Winston features in this new Hammers banner too (giving a piggy-back):

I think with managers like Mick and Big Sam I think it is a fair shout to say at least 2/3 of theirs games under these managers they will be. These two men are not the most adventurous and a standard British 4-4-2 is what they love!

Pretty sure West Ham have not played a 4-4-2 all season.

no one plays 4-4-2 anymore

Even if someone does, they call their 2nd striker an attacking mid and boom it's a 4-2-3-1

Think you will find a few teams play 4-4-2.

Had a look on a few fan forums about the rumours. Not too much on there, but generally they are pretty keen on the signing particularly having gained Champions League qualification.

The irony of it all is that if he knew this before going into the interview, why did he go through with it??? It's like interviewing any sports star after that game and knowing full well you'll get the 'full credit to the opposition, thanks for the Sammie's, dug in, game of two halves' lines and being surprised.

As you said Tegal, he's a bit of a dick. What Winston should have asked him was 'have you got any original questions that will make me think rather than the carbon copy ones you trot out most weeks'

It's the start of the EPL season, surely there is enough to ask him to form an actual article.
