Been interesting reading the back story of Matthew Benham, Midtjylland etc..., wonder how much he analyzed Winstons play statistically before going for the loan deal, seems like a perfect fir for Winston to rebuild hs career, as long as he can stay injury free.

Without actually researching it myself, perhaps he knows Winnie because they were at the same Danish club?

Brentford with an impressive 4-1 win at Middlesbrough (7th)

Reid subbed on at 83 mins (same score).

Bees actually were initially behind 1-0 after a 3rd min OG.

They close gap to one point on top of the table Norwich, and have game in hand on the Canaries.

Win or draw away midweek at 4th placed Reading, and Brentford will go top. They have a much superior GD on Norwich.

However Swansea also have a game in hand on Norwich, and are only another point behind Brentford, so is tight.

Brentford with 2 late goals from the 86th minute, looking good.

They go top of the table, 2 pts clear of Norwich.

Brentford stay 2nd, but they are just 1 point ahead of Swansea who have 2 games in hand.

Norwich 4 points clear in top spot.

Been absolutely sensational in his starts. Brentford fans calling him their best player recently

Would be a great long-term pick-up for Brentford if they get promoted. Huge amount of PL experience and leadership for a team that'd be favored for the drop straight away.

Obviously, his injury history and contract demands would be potential stumbling blocks, but I think it could be a great move for all parties if it's pulled off

Not particularly insightful to suggest there's no way back to West Ham without reference to his contractual situation. That's obvious, but they might be stuck with him on those wages. For context, he's potentially the highest paid player in the championship right now. He'd easily be in the top five, earning comparable wages to the top players from last years relegated premier league teams like Troy Deeney and Ismaila Sarr.

One of two subs made at 76 mins, as Brentford (2nd) lose 1-0 at top of the table Norwich.

Same score when Reid (got a yellow) came off.

Bees stay 2nd, 3 points ahead of Watford, but Hornets do have a game in hand.

Swansea (4th) 4 points behind Brentford have 3 games in hand.

Full game in a 1-0 win.
Brentford (66 pts) go 2nd on GD, though have played 1 more than Swansea in 4th (also 66 pts). 3rd placed Watford also 66 pts. Tight in the promotion race.

Full game in a 2-2 draw at Derby. Brentford (4th) conceded 2nd goal late at 86 mins, so will feel like 2 pts lost. Good news is that Swansea (3rd - 2 pts ahead) lost.

2nd placed Watford are 5 pts ahead of the Bees, but played a game more. Top of the table Norwich looking good for automatic promotion (10 pts clear of Swansea)

Full game in a 1-1  draw with Nottingham Forest (17th). Brentford (4th) 7 points behind Watford in 2nd, though Hornets have played a game more.

Unused sub as Brentford (3rd) draw 1-1 at Huddersfield (18th). Reid probably just rested as Brentford host Birmingham City in 3 days.

Bees are 9 points behind Watford (2nd), so is going to be difficult to grab one of the 2 automatic promotion spots. Though do have a game in hand. 8 rounds left for them in regular season.

They are 7 points clear of Bournemouth in 7th, so good chance they will at least be in the promotion playoffs.

My Brentford away shirt with Reid 23 finally turned up. Not jumping on the bandwagon. Brentford have been my second team for years.

On the bench as Brentford (3rd) win 5-0 at Preston North End (16th).
Bees 9 pts behind in 2nd placed Watford with 6 games left.
So lottery of the promotion playoffs look their best bet.

If West Ham make it in to Europe (as looks likely) does that increase the likelihood they hold on to Reid next season, as they look to carry a larger squad? He’d be hard to look past if they need to bolster up the squad, and they’re likely to be paying his wages anyway.

Can’t even see him listed as injured or on the reserves. Is he gone?

From thgis week's Flying Kiwis. Seems he's had an injury.

Brentford have been playing with a back three lately but that switch has coincided with Winnie being out of the starting team. The centre-back merry-go-round, you know how it goes. The Bees have continued to draw games like mad in his absence – six of their previous seven games and it looked like they were on the brink of another one when Pontus Jansson was sent off against Bournemouth early in the second half this weekend. But then Bryan Mbuemo scored in the 77th minute and there you go. A 1-0 win, sweet as.

Reid hasn’t even been in the squad the last few games which suggested an injury although nobody from the club ever bothered to confirm that until that the gaffer mentioned that Reid was back and available again... right as Jansson has to serve a suspension so seems like Winston had better give those boots a clean for the mid-weeker. It’s all about ensuring they get a home semi-final now for the playoffs as Norwich and Watford have already hogged up the automatic gigs. Brentford, Bournemouth, Swansea, and Barnsley are the four teams who’ll be in those playoffs but there’s only one point between the lot of them with two games left (three for Brentford, thanks to the midweek game).

Up Next: Wednesday at 6am, Brentford vs Rotherham (NZT)

Unused sub in a 2-0 win over Watford (2nd).
Unfortunately only 1 game left and Brentford (3rd) can't catch Watford for that 2nd automatic promotion spot, as 4 points behind.

Their spot in the promotion playoffs is however guaranteed. They will definitely finish 3rd. Their playoff opponent could be any of Swansea, Bournemouth or Barnsley - any of whom could be 6th.

Sounds like he was injured. From last week's Flying Kiwis search of Brentford's Twitter.

Unused sub as Brentford (3rd) win 3-1 at Bristol City (19th).

Bees will play Bournemouth in playoff 2 legged semis. Bournemouth have lost their last 3 games, incl a 1-0 home loss to Brentford 2 weeks ago, so hopefully good signs for Reid & Co.

Swansea to play Barnsley in the other semi playoffs.

From this weeks' Flying Kiwis, post last game Bristol City.

"No Winston Reid. He was an unused sub even though Brentford had nothing really to play for in their last regular season game. Manager Thomas Frank specifically said afterwards that he wanted to name a strong side to “take the momentum of our good run into the playoffs” which is fair enough given what’s at stake.

Ethan Pinnock was replaced at half-time as an injury precaution but it was Mads Bech Sørensen who came on instead of Winston Reid, annoyingly. Reid hasn’t featured since March due to an injury and being out of favour."
