There are two factors here. The first is he submitted falsified documents and lied and used his clout to get a more lenient sentence.
He has never appeared repentant, every statement he's ever made about it painted him as the victim.
Of course there are second chances, and there are plenty of jobs in sports journalism where he wouldn't be front and center. Seeing as he's chosen to continue his career in the public eye then he has additional responsibilities which wouldn't fall on him if he continued his career in private
Even the most stringent opponent of his has said that if he spent some of his profile fighting against domestic violence they would remove all objections.
