But why should there be much coverage of the cup when it's not our confederation?

Plenty of online coverage from trad media and football websites.

You don't think some coverage would be nice? I mean, we get coverage of the Australian cricket and rugby teams.[*]

It's more relevant to Kiwi football than whether Chelsea beat whoever this weekend.

How is it more relevant?

There are articles on Stuff and the Herald. Sky allegedly shows the games live.

What more do you want?

I go to various overseas websites to find out more about the competition and the teams - there's a cackload of stuff about China (some really good articles on wild east football, and good insider info on sports.sina (in Chinese).  There's also some write up in the Guardian and surprise surprise even local rags in Oz carry stories.

What. More. Do. You. Want?

[*] Haven't really followed either code since the Nix came along, but assume we get coverage of Oz eggball teams because they are ones NZ teams compete against in the super-duper comp.  Don't recall seeing anything about domestic competition teams.

As far as eggball and cricket national teams go - the pool is so small that we are bound to compete against them several times in the year so I suppose coverage is of interest.

I think it is unlikely that the AWs will play most of the Asian teams in the next few years bar a friendly here and there (although I guess it becomes more helpful if have to qualify for a WC through Asia, but that will be time dependent), so what is the relevance please?
