Sky says that losing the EPL cost them hardly any viewers.

And when they lost it they kept pushing the line that "A league games get more viewers." Which of course failed to take into account that EPL games are in the middle of the night here so a large number of people would record them whereas A League games would mostly be watched live because of the time they play. Since they have stated publicly how popular A League is compared to EPL it will be interesting to hear what they come out with when the rights come up for renewal.
