I think Sky is less likely to go after A-League rights if they already have the EPL. That way they get football fans subscribing without paying for rights to both. They do a similar thing with cricket.

I think Sky’s less likely to go after A-League rights if they already have the EPL. Instead of locking down a monopoly on a sport - which would actually be better for fans - they tend to just grab the rights to one big league or event. That way, they still pull in the fans of that sport without paying for both. It was the same strategy when Spark was around, with half the football on Spark and half on Sky. It's similar with Cricket too - they get rights on a portion of the big events but never all.

It's similar with Cricket too - they think they can keep subscribers just having a portion of the matches a fan of that sport will want to watch.
