Anyone know people involved in the Kiwi gaming industry? Particularly the programming and development side of games?

I don't think anyone is doing triple A style games in Wellington at the moment plenty of people and companies doing mobile games though, must agencies are doing mobile games as part of promotions as well. What do you want to know?

It's kind of triple A stuff. Weta Workshop is working with magic leap on content. But I can't give you names.

Stuff Leap Workshop

Workshop Leap

These guys do r&d for VR, too:

Hope that helps.

8i is doing some cool stuff, they're also hiring heavily. I was thinking of applying there but my current job is too good.

It's a shame that Sidhe went mobile, I worked with them a little years ago when they were doing the big console games and Mario, the boss, was having to take on non sidhe related contracts himself just to make payroll for the game dev team. So it's a hard road despite the fact that they were constantly working.

They were working on original IP in between the rugby league, barbie, and jackass games and it was this pretty cool fantasy thing that I suppose they abandoned.

Check out the nz gda and maybe cold call some members?

There's also a company that was looking for people to come on board and take a low wage but significant equity. They're found augmented reality stuff for museums so not really games but like 8i it's game technology. I'll look them up when in in front of a computer.

Are you looking for a development job in the gaming industry?

I think he wanted to setup in Dunedin but couldn't get local grants and/or Govt to drop skilled immigration salary requirement to $35k so I think is still based in the the Czech republic.

Might still have a Czech office, but definitely are in Dunedin (now) in some form.
