The students are loving it. The start of uni has been put back a week for clean up etc which has prompted a whole lot of "aftershock" parties. Last night each aftershock triggered a series of drinking games.

Lucky for me I don't have to drink boiled water we have a 10000L tank full of it behind the house. Haven't felt any more rumbling for a while.

A couple of quick shakes here in Wellington over the last half hour or so - aftershocks still shaking Canterbury or something else?

I must admit I felt quite bad leaving chch to go back to dunedin for uni. A bunch of my mates are helping out shoveling silt from elderly residents properties since they have the week off. It's amazing the differences in damages between different suburbs. I was extremely lucky, power went out for 5 hours and a couple of vases broke in our living room. Apart from that, our place was showing no symptoms. To see what has happened to some places down the road is just unbelievable.

The amount of people we saw queuing at supermarkets and petrol stations on saturday was amazing. Showed how unprepared everyone was. I know there is a massive cost to fixing the monumental mess this has caused, but i think this was also a bit of a blessing in disguise. It's given the whole country a big wake up call that bigger ones are well overdue and we need to be prepared for them.

Closer to the epicenter we still get them regularly. It's actually closer to Burnham than Darfield according to The Press yesterday.

Coastal's U19 tourney was always going to be played at Linfield, however our home ground of Bexley has been devastated. Check out the pix. Let me know if the link doesn't work.

Hey- Vim and others

is this the ground which hosts/hosted the Chch Multiethnic football tournie? What club does it belong too?

Yes that is/was the beautiful Bexley Reserve. It is Coastal Spirit's home ground which is a club started 3 years ago and was previously New Brighton's home ground.

The clubrooms and gymnasium is the saddest photo as the gym floor is 1.5 metres higher in the middle. The photo doesn't really do it justice but it is like a dome.

Linfield is ok

apparently some issues at Cuthberts and Avon Park too.
Sth Brighton Domain is good.

I remember fundraising for the hall
it's like dejavu all over again

Vim keen for a game for 11-12 boys @ Sth Brighton, give them a blast out, parents might appreciate some care-free time too?

Apparently 950 buildings were ticked off as safe before this morning. The big aftershock means that each of the 950 have to be inspected again plus all the rest that haven't been looked at yet.

Another small shake ten minutes ago.
