No mentions of Gravity? IMAX 3D the way to go. Despite Neil Tyson's comments
Yeah Rush was good, would recommend

Isn't that based on James Hunt - the former F! driver from the 60's/70's?

Yep. Am I allowed to say Chris Hemsworth is hot?

Insomnia (2002) pacino
Cloud Atlas
I was very impressed . The people who wrote, produced and directed this borrowed heavily from the SF novels of the 50's through to the 70's and incorporated a lot of the cover art imagery. Made me very nostaglic.
Agree with that FT.Watched it late last year and really enjoyed it.
Might tackle the book one day.

Yeah it's on my to get list as well.
I am currently watching Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter at the moment, wondering if being unemployed is rotting my brain.
Edit - finished now. I think that Daniel Day-Lewis winning an Oscar for this was probably about right he is pretty good working with some challenging material.
Two different movies Frankie. The vampire one was bit of fun, the real one I believe was excellent and Daniel Day Lewis showed once again why is is an excellent actor.
I watched Abraham Lincoln vs zombies a wee while ago.
It was awful, but strangely fun.

Desolation of Smaug was fantastic. Like, really really really good. Do yourself a favour and go and see it at The Embassy.
Watched "wake in fright" yesterday. Some quality Australian fucked up stuff!
I have seen that Wake In Fright. Weird, but decent.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty was good I thought.
Just watched Esylium Mat damon . Sci-fi great movie if you like robots and space and guns and suspense
Dead Man's Shoes is doing the rounds of Rialto - A great movie with Paddy Considine

saw American Hustle last night, sadly it had nothing to do with the magazine (having said that, Amy Adams made my pants shrink in a number of scenes).
Very good film, but (like most films these days) was about 30 minutes too long. Is there some law that I don't know about that no film under 100 minutes can win any Oscar?
Hustler...quality magazine for the discerning gentleman Mac.

Feverish seems more like a wall St type.
What's your rating on the Wolf. Yet to see it myself.
I read the first 100 pages of the book, and couldn't stand it - load of self indulgent bullshit. Film is supposed to be good, so will probably see it soon. Apparently it has loads of swearing which makes it all grown up and cool.
Looking at the emails I receive from Feverish, the idea of him writing a script tickles me no end.

I could probably write a movie about my mental day today hunting down a criminal
you consider North Wellington Football Club a criminal now?
Got my hands on "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" on Bluray for $18.95 in JB's on Sunday. Loved it first time round, hopefully it'll stand the test of time. Also got "Worlds End" - Any good?
Watched Rush last night - wasn't anything to do with Geoffrey which was disapointing. I have no real interest in F1, but I still thought it was really good. I did lament on several occassions that I wasn't watching it on the big screen.

I thought worlds end was awful. But then I seemed to be in the minority who had that opinion.
Also I was really rather hungover when I watched it, so that probably didn't help.

Philomena with Dame Judy Dench and Steve Coogan was excellent - sad, harrowing, sweet, with a bit of humour as well. Highly recommend
