^^^^^

If you’re looking for a faithful film rendition of the brutal, bloody
world of the 2000AD comics and the bleak metropolis of Mega-City One,
’Dredd 3D’ is finally here.
Not only faithful in spirit and look to the ground-breaking comics, Pete
(Vantage Point) Travis’ vision incorporates ground-breaking visuals and
minimal CGI in what is set to become a Sci Fi standard.
Set in the high rise tower of Peach Trees, controlled by the vicious gang
leader ‘Mama’ (Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey) ‘Dredd 3D’ is an express
elevator ride to Hell as Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) must take a young
rookie, Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) through two hundred floors of death as
they fight to remove the scourge of ‘slo-mo’ – a drug that incapacitates
its users and creates an incredible fusion of story and film visuals.
With a script written by frequent Danny Boyle collaborator, Alex Garland,
(28 Days Later, Sunshine) this is an unflinching journey through the darkest
levels of Sci Fi, the perfect tonic for the ‘something for everybody’ toned-down
blockbusters of today’s Hollywood.
