Elliot and Broom because they performed at International level this season, Franklin given his chance against the WI in the tests didn't perform. Ingram would have scored as many runs domestically as Franklin this season, as would have Cumming. Im not a Cumming fan but maybe he would be better in the middle order given his consistent season there for Otago. Looking at the MVP standings maybe Sinclair at 6.
Basically it all comes back to me not thinking Franklin is good enough as a batsman to be there, not good enough as a bowler but combined maybe just gets there. I think pick a guy who is a specialist batsman basically, or given the issues we will undoubtedly have with bowling India out shift everyone up one and playanother specialist bowler.
You and I are never going to agree on this, your'e a Franklin fan, I'm not plain and simple. But if he scores 100 next week and gets fivefa I will be prepared to admit I was wrong

Fair nuff.

Elliott probably deserved a shout because of his ODI performances, but has been rubbish in tests any time he had a chance. Franklin has not - he does have a test hundred, and a very good first-class season behind him with the bat. He also had minimal chances with the bat against WI, including a very unfortunate dismissal when he slipped and hit the wicket with his foot after playing a sexy leg-glance for 4...I don't think either Ingram or Cumming are good enough. Broom has not really done that well in ODIs - he's hung around for some partnerships, but hasn't really posted a big score that says you have to take him into account right now. But he's got something, and I think he'll get his chance both in ODIs and Tests.

Btw, don't expect Jimmy to get 5fer, but would be absolutely rapt if he did. But will be very disappointed if he plays in all 3 tests and gets no runs.el grapadura2009-03-13 13:48:32
