Good points bopman. I think a lot of it comes down to the balance of the team in terms of experience and youth. We were a much stronger team when Flemming and co were there (around the early 2000's).

I have read Nathan Astle's book and you get a good idea of his and Flems views on the John Bracewell situation as well.

As for the rookies, I think it is far to early to tell how far they will go. I think Boam, Anderson, Doug Bracewell and Boult are all struggling at first class level. Kane Williamson is slightly ahead but that is not to say he should be considered - going back to the whole 'step up' thing again. I believe he will get there but they all have a lot of hard work ahead of them and should not be rushed in like Southee was and like Boult almost was. That was a joke.TopLeft072009-11-30 23:31:41
