I think we definitely need some sort of breakthrough with the new ball, because there seems to still be a few runs left in this pitch.

Thanks Tim!

Like the idea of Martin coming in early.  Good move from McCullum.  Give him a chance with the harder ball.

Great catch to finish the day off. 6 wickets needed on the last day, bring it on!

Kane you beauty! How important are those two wickets!

Incredibly.  Great work backing him up in the field too, those chances could have easily gone down.  Need 3 more wickets before drinks in the final session tomorrow to keep the game alive in the evening.  Game is still on even if Root/Bell/whatsisname/Prior put on a couple of big stands in the first two sessions.

Getting Cook was a huge wicket, and getting Finn as well was a bonus.

The start of a new cricketing golden run/generation?

Definitely in the box seat now. Bell and Prior are both very capable of a big innings though. But I back us from here.

Praying and hoping they don't tomorrow, hoping England wake up tomorrow morning with not a single ounce of hope left.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Well that's a bit fudgeing special. Cracking effort from the boys. Lets finish them before lunch so I can go to bed at a reasonable time!

We got the big four: Grandson of Arsenal legend Dennis, Cock, Twott and Finndulkar. Each of whom can bat multiple sessions.

I stand by my earlier prediction.

Found this article written after 2nd test with all the pitch angst. https://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-england-2013/content/story/625594.html

Some of the comments are glorious in hindsight:

"England are really the better team by along way ,but Nz have shown a bit of fight"

"No excuses from our England team, we rank higher than them and supposed to be bundling them out regardless of the conditions. Obviously England are mile ahead of New Zealand despite those 2 draws. "

This is pretty funny as well. https://www.espncricinfo.com/blogs/content/story/626650.html

Bell and Prior are both far better batsmen than Compton. And Finn cannot bat. He only did so on State Highway 1, i mean Dunedin.

Wicket early this morning will do nicely.

Three for me, and two for them.

Reset your sarcasm filter Buffinho. Or, tell me how to do a tongue-in-cheek emoticon on here to make it more obvious.

Well it's hard to tell if it's sarcasm when you include two batsmen in there who actually can bat.

Oh, and this is how:  :P

2nd new ball could be a really key point in this game I think.

Need one before drinks in the next session for us to have a chance.  Gives us 15 overs at Broad/Anderson/Monty.  Martin also needs to bowl much better than he has so far this innings.  Unlike the rest of the series, his length has been a bit erratic.

Still have no idea why we batted for so long.  Hopefully it doesn't cost us.  480 was incredibly excessive.
