You're way off saying Cairns is in the same boat as Nash, Bracewell, Crowe and Lady Gaga(???)....Cairns has been interviewed since he was first accused (leaked) and there are many people insinuating Mr X is him. He hasn't plucked the theory it's him out of clean air. It is a 'forward defensive' (punny) but it's not a completely random defense of himself.

I don't think you picked up quite what I was meaning. I am not saying that Cairns is in the same boat as them because he is not - he is Mr X. I was saying that if he was actually innocent of this, then he would be in the same boat as the others I just named in that they have no need to defend themselves against something they are not involved in. I was using Lady Gaga to illustrate an extreme point - she is not involved thus she does not defend herself. If Cairns was as innocent as he proclaims about Vincent and McCullum stories, he has nothing to defend himself against so he just goes about his normal life.

Its like...... "NZF announce applicants for AW coach number 50 including mystery applicant from England". James Dean comes out in a presser and says its not him.... You don't have to defend yourself against something you are not involved in because the truth sets you free when the actual person is announced. He is as guilty as a dog getting snapped taking a shark on the carpet.
