This whole thing is just absolutely mindboggling.  I have no confidence that the best possible side will be picked, and every confidence that comprimises will be made to allow McCullum the middle order role he now wants.  I have been pretty supportive of McCullum's shift to opening, and dropping the gloves, as if he says his body can't cope with test keeping, who am I to argue with him, and his opening record, for all his faults, is better than most we have had.  However, if he does shift, I will be firmly in the camp that thinks he is after what is best for himself not for the team.  Unfortunately that seems to be matched with a coach that seems to think that 'whatever is best for Brendan IS best for the team'.
