Yep we'll find out whether "I want to do what's best for the team" is really what he's thinking when the next test side is named. If he opens, he's doing what's best for the team. If he drops down and pushes out an in-form/talented player he's doing what is best for him. That would mean we have to bring in Fulton who is not in our best 11 (long form) players.
We're all weary that with Hesson as coach McCullum could well be making his own decisions and Hesson does what suits McCullum. Hesson is off his head if it's his decision to move McCullum down. We have no one else who can open!
