Meanwhile, my husband's been summoned for jury selection here, so we're still stuck in Toronto. We're trying to get him out of it, as it's totally screwing up our moving plans. Hoping to leave Canada before winter hits. I'm guessing we'll be arriving in Hawke's Bay sometime between November and February.
the hottest time of the year. -30 to +30 or more.

Definitely cools down at night most summer nights. Great place to be in summer that's for sure!!!

Sounds great! Really hoping to get there before winter hits here. I can't believe we have to deal with jury selection process now. Toronto is trying to keep us around, it seems. Shipping company told us that "Jury selection was a first." for them in terms of why people have been delayed. Crazy timing!!
Surely its a legitimate reason to get out of Jury Duty? Canada must be tougher on enforcing jury duty than here.

We're asking for him to be excused from it. However, apparently people try to get out of it all the time, so they need documentation proving that we are, in fact, moving. We have to get a bunch of documents together. We don't have plane tickets yet, as we can't book those until our home has been sold. We'll be getting a letter from our realtor as well as the letter from NZ immigration that says that I've been granted a residency visa and some other stuff. Should be enough to get him out of it, but it's meant more running around and cost us time that we would have been better off spending getting our home ready to be put on the market. Once it's on the market, we hope for a quick sale!
