Young man.  Do you have loving parents?  If so, why would you want to leave a nice warm house, warm grub, and a world of order - to a life of filth and whoring?  Two years ago you were playing with GI Joes.  Are you ready for the real world?

Stay at home wiv your parents and save, it's a lot cheaper at home and when you find a bird who can cook etc. then get a flat and a big stereo.

I left home when I was 17 and then went back when I was 18.

Having seen the folly of my ways I stayed put until I was 24.

Don't do it!

I wouldn't mate. Renting's not just about being able to afford the rent. You've got to worry about bills, food, who'se paid what, who's eaten what, who's sleeping with who, who's a closet junkie/paedo/rapist/tv nazi. If you're the youngest in the house (and I'd imagine you will be) you'll get pwned at every decision.

Also I can't see any landlord who isn't as dodgy as a 9 doller note renting to a 15 year old...

Stiil, it's your life.

Mate, I stayed at home until I was 21, saved as much as I could and then headed to London with a bit a cash and some work experience. Stayed there for about 5 years, saw heaps of football, went to loads of gigs, had a great time basically.

Stay at home and get yourself a bit better sorted out. Then when you leave you can do it properly. It's hard to see when you're 15 but waiting for a while was the best thing I ever did.

I wouldn't do it. Its sounds all good having a lot of freedom etc but it definitely wouldn't be worth it. You have to pay all of your own bills, get a job and do everything else that is involved with flatting when you could be at home for free with a lot less responsibility.

It's all good and well for you to tells us your intentions but what about your motive? *Why* do you want to leave home, especially at such a young age? I've known a few people who've had to because of their home environment, and I hope that you're not in the same situation as them. If you don't *need* to leave, I'd suggest staying put. Enjoy your youth without the pressures of paying your bills, dealing with flatmates, and living up to even more responsibilities than you have now. Flatting isn't as great as it sounds. Sure, I get along great with my flatmates and I have no trouble with the lifestyle, but it does add to my stress level and I do miss my family heaps, more than I thought I'd would. That being said, they're in Tauranga and I'm in Wellington, but I'd gladly move back home if the commute wasn't seven hours each way!

If you are, however, in a situation where you feel you *must* leave, first think - is it really that bad? Can I do anything to make home life more enjoyable? If not, then talk to your school guidancer counselor, or a WINZ case worker, and they will be able to help you figure out what you want and how you can get it. There is a benefit scheme for young people living independantly from their families, this may help.

I strongly suggest that leaving be your absolute last choice, but it is up to you. Make sure you think it through and come to a decision you can stand by. Best of luck.

further to Robbs comments, the IYB (independent youth benefit) is for "kids" who can't live at home due toa breakdown in the relationship with their parents. I work for Studylink (same Gvt Dept as WINZ) and i deal with this kinda stuff quite often.

Look before you leap son, thats all i'll say.

I left home aged 18 for the military and haven't gone home to live since.  Am gonna move into Wellington to start flatting by the end of the year but if I had the chance would lived with the family til I could save up enough to survive uni.
Trust me - life outta home doesn't instantly bring girls, money and mates to your front door.  In fact, if I wasn't in the military back then I woulda got my cute white ass handed back to me with seven shades of sh*te knocked out of it.

You don't mention school, so are you thinking of staying if you go?
How will you afford rent if you do stay in school?
If you get a job you will still be on youth rates. (Less than minimum wage).
Stay at home, see if you can pick up part time work and get the stuff you want or buy the things you are going to need when you eventually do leave.
If school isn't working out, talk to a counselor - schools aren't set up to support people who are good at other stuff, like trades. Trade certs do  have pre-req's though, so if you are interested, find out what they are (ring a polytech or equivalent place) and start doing that. That way you hopefully won't end up shafted doing a job you hate.
Flatting is expensive and even when you like your flatmates they will still drive you up the wall a fair bit of the time, because you still have the same problem as at home, which is lack of privacy.

Unless you have a real issue where you are concerned for your safety, don't do it.
