Still running this stunning looker - the Churchill VII:

Huge issue for her (just like the mark I) is her lack of gun depression...also, Premium ammo in tier VII and VIII battles:

Ouch.

Ahead.  Finally.

122 (damage caused ahead)/2319 (battles)=0.052 contributed per game.

LOL.  Probably better off running around with a slingshot than a tank.

At some stage ths evening Munk and I are going to fire up a training room on Mountain Pass for a look at a couple of things.  If any of the Fever are on we will bung you an invite to join us with the idea we will spend 10 minutes looking at areas (it's the main map we fight on in clan wars lately). Then spend five minutes killing each other for the giggles.

If you fancy looking at a map (Munk and I will show you three sneaky spots we already have) and buggering around for a while feel free to accept the invite (drift competitions down the ice road?).  We'll probably have some of my workmates and Mrs. Munk on as well, plus I'll probably run an Arty on junior News account so I can work out firing lines.

I will either be running my Hellcat, my STuG or my A20.  Munk will probably be in a Hellcat.  Just so you know what is out there.

Always keen for more Wot knowledge, thx.  That Ice Road is a nightmare for both Churchills...gun elevation/depression issues (of course).  Avoid it at all costs...

Yeah.  Not where I'd take a heavy, unless you're coming from the south and you'd want to hope you have a light and arty to stop any TDs there (Munk) slapping you.

Wot a shower!  Finished 11-23.  And that's with 7 wins on the trot (Churchill I)!

The mark VII was a complete washout (1-9).

Have to run Mal tmr (for a while at least) - I've got no choice - credit issues once again.

Training.  I've got to get these Churchills (especially the mark I) running properly (I.e., winning lots)...

I reckonj you should be allowed a couple of resets every day where you get into MM and see whta battlefield you are on and you can sub out one tank for another of the same tier.  That way when you see you have Mountain pass and you're got your Churchill VII you can swap it out for a Hellcat.

Got my first 9 kill last night.  We tried to get me the 10th but one of our teammates got him first.  Got a 6 as well, would have been higher but their last arty drowned himself.  Prick.  Both were in the SU-85b which currently is slapping things for me.  With improved accuracy in 8.6 Munk, Mrs. Munk and I will absolutely dominate Tier IV and V.  33% improved credit return should help as well.

Munk and I also won two battles in the T-34s.  As in won them for the team.  On both Abbey and Mountain Pass we lead pushes (Stevo Matilda like) that won the game.  On Abbey in particular Munk was superb.  He finished surrounded by 5 wrecked Tier V tanks and TDs by their cap.

Kills vs battles now within 10 of each other.

This weekend : Double crew experience. Plus a half price Bathtub and bonus credits on French TDs.  Been waiting for a Bathtub sale for a couple of months so I'll join you this weekend Fort (and Munk).  I'll also fight my 3000th battle at some stage in the coming days as well.

50% discount on crew (re)training.  I’ll need that to switch commander to 6th sense... will have to get some golds.

8.6 today as well?  Assume that is why the interwebs are down.

wowz on the kills. Yeah looks like the patch is here, good really as I'm getting stuff done around the house.

I also swap tanks and tiers if my luck goes to sh*t. Or I get back to winning ways with my pj1 or SU-5.

Ouch on the 50% velocity loss on mortar based SPG's. :(

Must remember to backup 8.5 so I can watch replays that I have saved.

Also talk is 8.7 could be here in the next fortnight as well as it's just UK Arty and map changes by the look of it.

The Hatchback (SU-85b) was missing a Top gun up intil about 7 days ago - I kept getting 5s in it - but now have had three in the last week.

I'm tempted to try that TD (SU-85b), but I mean I'm running four at the moment do I need another? Is the lack of armor a major problem?

Yes and no.  You can't brawl in any way shape or form... but the gun... OMG, the gun.  It makes BIG holes in even Tier VI heavies and  two of them can smash up even a KV-1s or an AT-2 quickly.  If you are competent you can take on a STuG.  I failed to be competent on Widepark last night. Sigh.

If arty spot you you are flattened so you need to camo your little heart out.  I need 6th sense bad on mine.

Basically it's a hide and snipe but if they come at you one at a time you'll flatten them.  In Tier IV the only things that you can't one shot are generally only two or with an unlucky roll a three - even Hetzers and Matildas.  You can go head to head with lights a little as if you hit them they explode in pieces but if that then causes a visit from Whack-a-mole arty...

SU85b - Im torn between this and the T40 as to which is my favourite TD -both are excellent

the Pros for SU85b

-2nd highest camo rating in the game - distance becomes armour -if you play as a defending long range sniper you can do a lot of damage unseen. Theres nothing better than sitting on top of a hill at El Halluf, picking off tanks left right and centre. Later in the battle you can get more aggressive as you mop up

The gun -as Sig says, the top 85mm gun makes big holes in Tier 6 tanks - its accurate and fast firing -slightly slower to aim, but once you develop the patience, you can 1 shot T3's, 2 shot most T4s and T5's -T6s 3-4 depending on armour etc -its great hitting a T5 tank and watching half their health disappear in 1 shot, and their turre(n)t looking round like a blind dalek before you finish them off

Cons

If you dont play to the strengths of the SU85b youll be disappointed -it can take 2 hits at the most so dont push forward too fast-stay hidden, watch the choke points and profit!

Gun depression and elevation are terrible - you need to be on flat ground -any kind of slope will limit what you can aim at - however, this is also a good thing as it teaches you to learn the layout of the maps a lot better .

Ive just hit a 71.66 win rate over 1235 battles in this, WOT assistant shows the last 46 games have an 89% win rate -thats solo and platooned -I think its an underrated TD that gets overlooked as people race up the Russain TD line, but for me, its a keeper

..oh and it leads to the Hellcat which even running around Mountain pass on a training run is great fun.

Particularly when Munk kills himself by accidentally running into Mrs. Munk (ArtyMagnet)

Had a plat the other night with Munk is his VK.  me in the Hellcat and MRJJNZ (workmate) in his Sherman Jumbo.  12 kills, Crucial contribution and brothers in arms between us in a Tier VI battle.  Seemed to be the perfect combination of pace, weapons and armour.

Initial findings - they have broken the SU-5. OK It has longer range but zero penetration. My 6 shots bounced with zero damage before I was killed.

2nd Game - worse than the first game.  5 Shots causing zero damage and one of those was a "critical" to a tier 3 med tank.

I knew this nerf was going to be bad. But not this bad. Gutted.

3rd game:

Ok Tried my lvl 4 French AMX 105 AM couldn't hit anything as so inaccurate before being killed.

4th game:

Went back to the SU-5 and fitted my old favorite mortar 152mm. Can't hit anything due to inaccuracy and the aim time is diabolical and you still only get 14 shells. I am contributing nothing to my team. Think I still have a bison or renault SPG's will try them.

Tried my Tier 2 Renault in Provence, two hits both criticals one for 19 and the other for 23 - the most damage I've done. Another SPG slotted a teammate due to inaccuracy. See the enemy Priest did get 2 kills though. You just pray someone is stupid enough to stay in one spot for long enough to get a hit off.

Another 3 games x1 in the AMX 105AM and one with the one that precedes that the AMX 105AMmle. Nil damage caused.

Played the SU-5 managed some semi-respectable damage to a KV-1 but that was because he was a complete idiot. The mortar in TD is now completely useless.

So to sum up in 9 games I've killed zero tanks and done a total of about 120 damage over 4 hits and that's it.  That is using four different SPG's. The SU-5 would usually kill at LEAST 2 in a game.

Other players don't seem to be doing much better. I've seen x3 SU-5 none have managed a kill.

The only SPG's to kill anything that I've seen is M37 and M7.

The SPG may have a role but I don't see what outside of  low lvl maps like the mines, malinovka, provence, El Halluf where tanks don't move around much.  The only strategy I can recommend is once you spotted an enemy tank/group of tanks stay with them even if you lose contact as switching to another place on the map means you have to wait an age to aim. Bear in mind the accuracy has been shot too.

Had a quick fang about  - I had 1.7m credits given back to me, due to nerfed HEAT shells Id bought in past sales -suspect no profit in that tho

I turned off dynamic camera as that was causing a jump in sniper mode for each shot. Looks like the client supports mobile authentication or soon will. Guns feel a bit more accurate, I finished off a speeding T-50 in 3rd person mode as he sped by .

Wish I'd had that for my solo Clan war the other night.  Could have slapped the ELC AND the T50-2 before their derps arrived.

Suspect I'll get a few credits for HEAT I have sitting on TDs.  Hopefully enough to buy my new bathtub.

Junior News has got home with plans to Platoon with two of his mates (god help Tier I) but instead they are all sitting waiting for 8.6 to downlad.
