Why in NZ sport and I suspect Australian sport, (particularly rugby/league/cricket), do commentators/journos have to add a "Y" to the end of everybody's surname to make it more matey/blokey?
For example the last Skywatch magazine or whatever it is called had to refer to Steve Price as "Pricey".
We have lots of "Jonesy" "Smithy" "Wanky" "Arsy" etc... Why can't you just say their proper name?
I am fairly sure it is linked to gayness in some way.
