the 40 hour week is a load of crap, most companies pay a 37.5 hour week, but in theory I'd expect most people workl a lot longer than that. My point was that historically, it was common for people to do 12 or 16 hour days.  ButuUnions were influential in making the usual working week 40 odds hours long.
