Not that  am aware of, he turned himself in at a Police station in the Hawkes Bay and thats as much as I have heard.
you might find the dude had a breakdown was possibly in a high stressed job. went on holiday then on his last few days began thinking about having to go back to said stressful job and had a wee mental episode which resulted in him wandering off to Clive of all places

Sure wasting all those volunteers and rescue peoples time and resources was a arsehole thing to do don't get me wrong but there's more to this story than we've been told
