I'll be the first to say Twitter is one of the most vile places I have been on the internet for the exact reasons you specified above.  People get harassed far to much and far too aggressively, far too often.  And because of its short form people don't get contexts and just jump on bandwagons.  Its terrible and toxic, and has some horrible consequences.

My only exception was saying people have tall poppy syndrome for criticizing him as it just undermines the conversation, as its basically saying you cant criticize this person because they are rich and famous.  And if you do criticize them its because you are jealous (or envious or any other synonym).

"Being the sort of person that I wouldn't want to have a beer with is different from me judging him."

I'm not sure what semantic definitions you are using but if I conclude I don't want to have a beer with someone I absolutely am making a judgement about them.

You really want to talk up how hard he has worked to get where he is.  That's great, but if he is being a dick, he is being a dick.  That's not tall poppy syndrome that's observations of a person.

And yes the people who are tweeting him are being dicks, doesn't mean if he did something wrong he is any less of a dick.

"I'm reasonably certain if it was something as simple as someone politely telling him that it was against the rules to take photos in the Casino then he wouldn't have tweeted anything,"

How is this not the same thing as they are doing?  With minimal information you are reasonably certain of events that took place.  With all of the potential variables like the company he was with, the alcohol that may or may not have been consumed, etc, that he wouldn't have overreacted like many people do to the point of reasonable certainty?

True, but people are being just as toxic in the comments on stuff. They are all being incredible hypocrites by acting childish by calling him childish.

Me stating that I will enjoy having a beer with someone is probably judging, but its judging based on the fact that his taste in music and his interests are polar opposites of mine. I'm not saying I probably wouldn't enjoy his company based on who he is, it's based on the fact that we are very likely not going to have anything in common and in general I don't like people with the sort of personality that he exhibits. I'm not going to call him names based on that observation.

As far as I can see he tweeted something then pulled it down, apart from that he's been very positive about NZ. The main issue here is the exposure that the media and commenters are giving him. He is behaving exactly the same as anyone else would when traveling, i.e. putting images on social media, and sharing his experiences. Yet because he has a high profile it's egotistical behavior.

Anyway, we are going around in circles, this thread is things that piss you off, and I know that plenty of people get pissed off at circular arguments and off topic rants.

"He is behaving exactly the same as anyone else would when traveling,"

Again we don't know exactly what happened.  If he was asked to remove his sunnies and hat, and he said no, and they said sorry you have to take it off, and he said don't you know who I am, and they asked security to remove him and then he sent the angry tweet, I wouldn't say that's what everyone else does when traveling, I certainly don't when I travel.

"They are all being incredible hypocrites by acting childish by calling him childish."

So I take it you are hypocritically acting childish by calling people childish?

No, because I have a good reason to say what I'm saying, and I'm not calling them childish I'm saying they, as in a group, are acting childish.

I have noted that over the last 9 days Petrol has snuck up from $1.73 to $1.86.99. Nice move Petrol companies. School holidays are approaching. Still, there is time for the Ferries to go on strike too.

The level of Hamilton coverage is absurd and it's continuing despite the fact that he's left the country. I mean he's no Jared Hayne. I guess stuff had found something else that is getting the clicks and will milk it until it stops.

Ugh Bachelor articles.  It seems like the show is only about a quarter of the available content for the show.

Had anyone else heard or our new Governor General before the news saturation tonight? I didn't even know she existed. I am surprised John Key didn't make Max Keydashian as the new head of state.

Just read an article on Stuff (that was my first mistake) about how "relying on BMI may be dangerous". It's based on a "new study".

We've known for years that BMI is not an accurate reflection of people's health. According to BMI, I am obese.

This is not news, nor is it a research breakthrough!!!

Argh.

drivers that struggle to drive at a decent speed in wet weather, driving home on saturday night people doing 60 in an 80 zone people doing 70 in a 100 zone. i realise you need to adjust your speed a little in the wet but on a straight stretch of road surely you can go faster than 70.

Or people that slow down on bridges or when trucks or buses are in the oncoming lane.

Or people sitting in the fast lane doing 80km after the game on Saturday heading out to the Hutt and they refuse to pullover into the inner lane.

I have no issue with people driving at the speed they are comfortable with.  But it pisses me off something fierce when they dpeed up at passing lanes or don't use slow bays when there is clearly a queue behind them.

I don't think that is intentional just subconscious accelerating to keep up with the flow of traffic coupled with confidence that the road is wider.

They fail to fall off the 99% of the road that isn't a bridge so I don't know why they expect to do it when they are on one. The motorway is the same but at least its lanes. The other thing that annoys me is how people do 10 - 20kmph under the speed limit if there's a cop around, and no one ever overtakes cops (okay that is probably asking to be pulled over and get your license checked, but still it's the principle of the thing.).

Yea I get that but road awareness, they should see the cars behind them and make an effort to stay the speed or even slow down at a passing lane.  I certainly do if I'm driving slower than usual for any reason.
