Sorry to hear that. Pretty disgusting behaviour for a social amateur game. Understand everyone still wants to win no matter how low level the game is, but mostly you're playing for fun and surely there's some sort of line. Sad that you often get these lunatics who think the objective is to "do someone" like what happened to you without understanding how that can actually affect people's lives beyond the 90 minutes.
We had a fairly bad tempered game on Saturday though thankfully no injuries. Opposition going berserk over everything. Need to accept it's division 8, so nobody is a qualified ref and nobody has done a referee course and often the guy has never even refereed before. Just doing a difficult job the best they can. You just have to do it when it's your turn, and generally people try and let the game flow and blow the whistle as little as possible because they're scared of causing even more arguments if they give their own team a decision. Nobody wants to volunteer their time on a Saturday to be repeatedly called a "fudgeing cod" because they were too far away to see for sure if was handball or who got the last touch without the help of a linesman etc.
Ref ended up having to force one guy to sub off at the end of the game for losing his shark when he was given a free kick.
