Having to wait for landlords to get around to dealing with repairs and maintenance issues. Don't know if buying our own place will be a possibility for us in the foreseeable future but would be nice to be able to just sort out these things straight away ourselves one day.

Was a bit frustrated the other day but think it was more the builder they use being unreliable and difficult to get hold of than them not dealing with things. Credit where it's due, they have now agreed to some things we didn't expect to get (and didn't even ask for), sounds like the builder has talked them into some extras to make his job bigger. Fingers crossed it gets done now and doesn't flow through to a rent increase!

Part 1 is bringing around a new oven - we expected the landlords to try and repair the old one but it's so old they unexpectedly agreed to replace it. "Either Thursday or Friday evening" came and went, didn't hear anything on Thursday then apparently there was "one emergency job after the other" yesterday. Now "10am Saturday" has been and gone. Got football this afternoon so if he hasn't turned up by about 12.30 I'm just going to have to go and I almost hope he turns up to find noone here and he can't do the job.

The other things are nothing major - things like a tap that doesn't work and few minor jobs like that. If we could just get a plumber they would come the day we called and fix it in 5 minutes but instead we have to wait for weeks on end for this arsehole handyman the landlords want to use who is not a plumber and probably won't even be able to fix it anyway. Presumably he's dirt cheap but I guess you get what pay for.

Long for the day I can just deal with these things myself.

Edit: The instant I hit save the phone rang and it was him saying he's just picking up the oven now. Fingers crossed then.

Some tennants I know just hire the plumber and invoice the landlord.
