The 2025 New Zealand Football Pyramids Resource is now available on the web here.

The aim of this resource is to pull together in one place all the disparate information about the New Zealand Men's and Women's SENIOR football pyramids; the clubs; their grounds; & links to the many places in which the draws, fixtures, tables and results are published.

If you spot any errors, inaccuracies, spelling mistakes, typos, or incorrect links, please let me know. We are always striving to correct any errors.

Comments, feedback and suggestions are welcomed.

A brief guide to navigate your way around the tabs:
  1. The Men's Pyramid and Women's Pyramid tabs depict the teams in each division of each tier in senior football. The coloured groups of columns represent the Zones (Northern, Central, and Southern) and Federations. Within Each Federation, where appropriate, the Regions within that Federation are shown with grey background subheading cells.
  2. The Men's Divisions and Women's Divisions tabs are reference tabs, used for formulaic look ups, but can be used to see the Pyramid structure in a summary form. They are sorted by Tier.
  3. The Men's Pyramid Diagrams and Women's Pyramid Diagrams tabs show graphical representations of the top 5 Tiers in each Pyramid and some additional diagrams of the promotion / relegation situations between some of the Tiers.
  4. The Teams (By Division) and Teams (By Club) tabs are, hopefully, self explanatory. They list the teams sorted by: (a) Tier and Division for each of the Men's and Women's Pyramids; and (b) Club, and then by Division, and then by Team name, respectively.
  5. The Club Listing tab lists all of the Clubs active in senior football in New Zealand in 2025 (and those who were active in at least one of 2023 or 2024 but not in 2025 as "Defunct"). There are counts of the Clubs' total Senior Teams, total Men's Teams, total Women's Teams, total Pyramid Teams, and total Masters, Veterans, Legends and Super Legends (combined) Teams. Each Club's logo, main home ground, other home grounds, website(s), Federation, highest Men's and Women's Tier, and entry status in each of the Chatham and Kate Sheppard Cups are listed.
  6. The Latest Results & Standings tab provides links to all the disparate web pages that the draws, results, and standings for all of the various leagues in the various tiers, regions, and sub regions of both Pyramids are presented through.
  7. The Maps tab provides a set of maps illustrating the location of the clubs in both Pyramids. The two maps put together by Simon Raven group the Clubs by the Tier in which their highest senior Men's and Women's Teams play.
  8. The Other Non Pyramid Leagues and Unaffiliated Leagues tabs present the information about the relevant other leagues as per the tab names.
  9. The Grounds, Cities, Regions, and Federations tabs are reference tables for the formulas used on the other tabs.
  10. The 2024 and 2023 Pyramid tabs are archives of the previous years' Men's and Women's Pyramids.
  11. The Stats tab is a copy of some of the columns from the Club Listing tab used to produce the stats in the section below.

Are required as part of the competition regulations to field an U23s team in those League's U23s competition. These 5 U23s competitions are NOT part of the Pyramid, and I have not counted these teams as senior teams, even though they meet the definition of "Senior". This is because a team whose Senior team is relegated sees the associated U23's team relegated with them even if that U23s team were Champions of the U23s league concerned.

There are 19 clubs which are defunct and are not fielding Senior Teams in 2025, but which have fielded Senior Teams in at least one of 2023, or 2024 (The years I have been compiling this resource).

Of those 19 defunct clubs, the following 8 are newly defunct in 2025:
Banks Peninsula AFC
Clevedon FC
Coastal Spirit / Shirley St. Albans
Gisborne Bohemians FC
Kaikohe AFC
Kaitaia United FC
Timaru City AFC
West End AFC
Meanwhile the following 6 clubs are newly active in senior football in 2025:
Auckland FC
St Kevin's College
Waitaki Boys High School
Hillcrest United FC
Harbourside Football Club

The 2025 New Zealand Football Pyramids Resource is now available on the web here.

The aim of this resource is to pull together in one place all the disparate information about the New Zealand Men's and Women's SENIOR football pyramids; the clubs; their grounds; & links to the many places in which the draws, fixtures, tables and results are published.
